Paul, When the NHL wants to change rules like they are now doing, why don't they use the AHL as a testing ground first? Wouldn't it be more useful if they then sat back for a year and see the new rules being used effect the game and if it's something they indeed want to use at the NHL level? Maybe they tweek it a bit or maybe scrap a certain rule altoughether if they find good hockey plays being automatic penalties.

I have seen rules brought in and called when a year or two later find it didnt work so they scrap it, making the league actully look silly. If they tested it first at the AHL level they would know more if it's a rule they want or dont want.
