Porter one line 2 and kindl on pair 1.... Safe to say yesterday. Was stronger line up...
As mentioned helm will be fine throw a cage on, Sproul is okay thank goodness (looked dirty to me) and datsyuk didn't look that bad so hopefully he is correct in his one week assumption. Other than that goaltending was a big plus last night for me |

As a fan of hockey I hope Datsyuk stays healthy this season. The things he can do on the ice is fun to watch |

Like Jurco_28 stated twice. No.
And my own response: hell no. |

Wings played well yesterday, especially Jimmy and Petr. The skaters backchecked well and looked strong on the puck battles. You could definitely see the youth factor in the defense as they made a few minor league mistakes in their own end, especially Backman and Marchenko, but they made up for it with strong passing and puck battles.
That hit on Datsyuk sucks, its the only positive thing Scuderi did last night in terms of being an NHL hockey player. Wasn't exactly a questionable hit, might have bordered on interference. Dats should be ready in a couple days if nothing serious besides soreness. We need him and Zeke to play 65+ games each this year, we really do. |

Most of the D showed they could use another year in GR lol however I still believe either Oulette or preferably Marchenko could supplant kindl on the third pair.
The goalies both looked quite sharp in net and the only thing I would like to see them improve is being able to handle the fore check a bit better. It seems as though sometimes they were panicking or getting caught up in their own end at times when the forechecking has strong. That is going to happen an awful lot in the division we are in and they need to iron out their break out plays! Other than that not a bad first game |

I think our best bet for Kindl is to be packaged around the TDL or draft with a forward and some picks for a dman.
I think the forechecking difficulty can be attributed to it being the first preseason game with 2 1/2 lines of AHLers. Zetterberg's presence centering/winging that second line potentially during the regular season will really help stabilize the top six, as will the additions of Franzen, Nyquist, Weiss, and our second pairing. I liked what I saw from AA last night. He's going to be great with a bit more tweaking on his professional level game.. less junoir show off moves and more possession oriented play is needed.
Marchenko should be tossed in as our 7th D to start out. He's miles better than Lashoff and should be thrown in to 30-40 games rotating with Kindl so he can get a feel for the man's game. He's going to be a top four defenseman for us and would love to see Kronwall, DeKe, Smith, and Marchenko making up those four (trade Ericcson). |

Weiss is our number one center if/when Datsyuk gets injured or retires (Zetterberg not included, he needs to play wing on the top line if Dats goes down) so, don't attack him. Wait to see how he plays this year before designating him crappy. I still think he could be the right replacement for Hudler/Filpulla. |

Why the hell is Babcock playing Pulkkinen with Glendening...seems like Babcock doesn't want Pulkkinen to show any offense in pre-season to maybe have a case for being on the team. Poor Weiss also stuck with Abby and Porter although I don't know too much about Porter. I wish Babcock would stop thinking that skilled players all need grinders on their line to be effective and put skill with skill and the grinders with the grinders. |

Also Babcock breaks out the worst Wings defense pairing again hoping for a different result. The brutal way they played half the season together last season is already forgotten by Babcock. Quincey and Smith should never ever ever be played again as a defense pair. |

Yes and pre-season is for players to show what they can do...how is Pulkkinen suppose to do that playing with Glendening? He's not a dump and chase player and doesn't belong with that type of players if you want him to be effective. Put him with Weiss or Nosek so he at least has an offensive center who can make a pass.
One of us guys? If all people want are positive comments, maybe they shouldn't go on the internet at all. I don't have a problem with someone saying positive things at all but I'm not going to sugar coat my posts or avoid negative things I see either. I'm looking forward to seeing that top line tonight and seeing Pulkkinen and Smith on the PP. Getting a look at Nosek is also a positive. Wish Mrasek was getting a bigger work load instead of just one period again. |

I agree with the trade but I doubt Kindl has any value
AA looked pretty good but wasnt really able to play that many minutes so it was hard to tell...Yeah I'm not too worried about the forechecking cause its so early I just thought that was something from the game i'd like to see improved from some young Dmen
It's hard to say if we should toss Marchenko as a 7th dman...that seems like kind of a waste unless he is guaranteed 50% of the games. Otherwise he might as well play in GR and be the first call up. |

Well this has the potential to be an ugly game for the Wings given the Hawks are icing their top 2 lines and 3 of their 4 top defensemen. |

Maybe Babcock heard me because I think Pulkkinen is playing with Weiss and Abby while Porter is with Glendening and Callahan.
I think Callahan got injured just before the goal...he took a hit and looked like his shoulder or arm got hurt because he was going off right away after and the Wings scored. |

That makes a lot more sense than having Porter up there. I love this first line cause of how good they played together last year. |

Yes and so far they don't look too bad (Weiss, Abs and Pulk), they had the Hawks pinned in their own zone for an entire shift last time out. Callahan looks to be ok he was just back out there. |

Agreed...the top two lines have looked quick and hard. Also Smith and DD have looked solid on the back end... and as usual...
Kindl looks lost... |
