i was at that game, loved that.

but richards isn't really an intimidating opponent either. thats all I'm getting at.

Bieksa's tough, type of player i'd want on a team (and should be the canucks captain). I'd be more concerned if a mad dog kassian was going at me though.

He skates pretty well for a goon TBH. Sestito has as much grace as a prize pig.

Yeah his knock has always been that he doesnt fight other enforcers, but I dont think that is really indicative of his willingness. He's mostly out there against the other teams best players, and he isn't the type of guy to have a staged fight. From what I've seen, he is willing to go if you mess with his teammates. Honestly, thats all you can ask for.

He's going to be waived for sure. He's a native of Utica, so it would not be the end of the world for him. Honestly though, with the way the games evolving, I doubt he'll get another contract in the NHL after this one expires.

what he does for the young players is great. I'm happy he's around for another year. But I'm sure he'll see less and less games very soon.

ya he looks good.

not sure if I want him to make it this year though. He has the skills, seems to be strong enough since he's not getting pushed around, and theres enough vets/prime players to shelter his minutes if needed.

But I wonder if a player like granlund could benefit more with the playing time on the third line more.

I like the competition for getting on the roster though.

next year I think virtanen is going to be impressive.

It is a tough choice.... I personally believe give him one more year in the minors, that way you don't burn a year of ELC $ on a "wasted" year. If you can have him on his last year of his ELC when the team starts competing for the playoffs... always better. Otherwise, you get in Oilers territory where now every player is making 6.5-7 million and eventually you cant afford them all... becomes tough to give them a supporting cast.

pfft, lose the visor then he can be involved.

he killed westgarth, sure. but you've heard it many times i'm sure. easy to stand there and trade blows while picking your shots with your face protected.

Calgary has had a nice couple years of drafting. Need to keep that momentum going!

always want to see canadian teams do well.

Of course when it heats up we will take more jabs at each other...thats the fun part.

Agreed but you always are respectful,as well as the other three. I never get offended by any of your posts. I know Bieksa 3 and Iggy have gotten in to it in past years and I like both guys, I think Iggy has a lot of good input.

Kevin Connauton with a couple points tonight.

Still a relatively young player at 23 who I hate to see develop AFTER the nucks traded him.

28 players still in camp and realistically only 1 spot up for grabs IMO. Erickson, O'Rielly, Corrado are as good as gone, leaving Horvat,Jenson and Shink battling for the last spot. Sestito won't be sent down at this point, I think he will sit in the press box for 80% of the games. With Richardson injured we might see both Horvat and one of Jenson/Shink for 9 games. My guess is Horvat for 9 and Jensen stays up.
I'm kinda surprised that Jeffrey is gone because unless Benning plans on having a young guy in the press box or a guy is traded, Dorsett is most likely not dressed.

I also can't see having more than 1 D in the box as Corrado looks like he needs more time in Utica.
