One game in overtime, so they get the loser point, and last night's games was very close and Ottawa stayed right with the Hawks and came very close to scoring the equalizer in that game too.
Ottawa still up two points on the leafs, with one game in hand.
Scott Darling was the reason the Hawks managed to hold off the Senators. .970 Sv%

They're getting badly outplayed and outshot. 45 shots on net. Goaltending can only keep the sens in it for so long. They're going to start getting really blown out. |

Ottawa 36 shots against/game only comparable to Buffalo at this point. Unless things change, it's going to get bad ... quickly.

I can agree with your point of allowing to many shots on goal. It was one of their biggest problems last year too, and I expected some improvement this season.
On the other hand, their PP was not up to Par last season, very predictable and not successful when needed. So far this season, I've seen a better power play, and the other big problem for the past couple of seasons was the difficulties getting the puck out of their own zone, and there are some good signs that this is something that looks much better this season.
Both goaltenders are much improved over last year, but this should not be something that the team should come to depend on, as every goaltender will get into a slump.

Claiming a performance by Darling was the reason the Hawks one is silly. If not for Anderson, the Sens could have been embarrassed.
How long do you get that from such a wildly inconsistent goalie?

Well I watched the game, and you did not.
Darling was superb in the game, and if not for him, the Hawks could have easily lost the game.

If you apply Anderson's career SV% to his current shot totals it's pretty scary. If he wasn't playing above his ability as shown by the rest of his career he'd have given up another 4 goals by this point. That's an extra goal PER GAME. |

How did you see the game in toronto? Was it on City toronto too?
Just noticed that Phil has 9 giveaways vs 3 takeaways, and is a minus 3
Ryan has only 3 giveaways vs 6 takeaways, and is even in plus/minus |

End this thread. Phil is in another league.
So Phil is too fat to play well this season? Another Kessel myth destroyed by the thrill.
Kadri suddenly looks good the second he has Phil on his wing. THN actually knocked Phil for not making his linemates better. LOL. |

The leafs only seem to be able to win, when Kessel scores. So it may be that the leafs are a one line team, in these early stages of the season.
When Kessel does not score, they lose games, so it would seem the game plan for any team they play, will be to shutdown the Kessel line, and you should be able to beat the leafs.
Are the Eric Staal rumours dying down yet? He would be the perfect Center for Phil. |

Phil plays better when he's fat. That's why he drops off late in the season, or in the Olympics when medals are being decided. And it's ok, all teams need players who can make November exciting! |

I fond it funny you guys are trying to get some knocks on kessel, in a booby Ryan vs kessel thread.
One was first line for the US, along with another leaf winger, named best forward. The other didn't even make the team.
You guys are embarrassing yourself. Kessel is country miles better. Its not remotely close. Ryan is closer to jvr but honestly, jvr wins that battle too. I think we should start a clarkson vs Ryan thread. |

Kadri clarkson and lupul have 8 goals between the three of them.
The sens first line has nine.
If the leafs are a one line team that makes the sens a half line team?

All I was saying is that goals are exciting even when they don't matter. That's why you're so happy about your guys. I mean, the last 25 games of the season may be a bit boo-tastic again, but it doesn't seem like you care, which is excellent! Hockey fans SHOULD be excited! |

Pretty good player yes. Elite goal scorer for sure. Bobby Ryan is good too though. Probably good for 25 goals a year. |

Also, what does that leave the sens to cheer about? No elite goal scorers OR playoffs.
I'm sure you'll find something.
How many goals against while that defensive stalwart karlsson was on the ice tonight?

Leaves us to cheer for a whole bunch of wins, goals by the entire team, and playoffs to look forward to. And Karlsson is a Norris trophy winning defenseman, so whine all you like, you're not even convincing yourself.
I like the future for my team. Hell, I like the future for YOUR team. This forum has just become a place for people to say ridiculous poop to each other. So there you go. Enjoy your 10th overall pick next year. |
