he hit him in the hand.

Also, still slashed him, regardless of where it hit him.

Winnik got called for slashing earlier in the game (horrendously weak call) and Minny scored on it. winnik was hooked (no call) on the same play, and turned around and whacked the guy.

They gave Kessel a penalty because they were poop at the job, which in turn makes them even worse at their job.

Like I said, I only caught the last 6 mins of the third period (after regional blackout lifted at 10:30) and wondered why, if slashed on his left hand, he raised his right hand as if it was slashed???

Pretty much looked like he was fishing for a call.

I know if I got slashed on my left hand, I would drop my stick, and not pretend I was slashed in my right hand.

He gets slashed on the left hand and then he raises his right hand and drops his stick with his left hand. It was simply a reaction, he didn't have nearly enough time to think about trying to sell the call.

The fact is, he was 100% slashed and the call should have been made. Why he reacted the way he did a second after is irrelevant.

He drops his stick when he gets hit............and does not show any discomfort with his right hand (as if it was slashed)

Like I said, I only saw the last six minutes of the game, after the blackout was lifted, so don't really know how the rest of the game was called, and if the leafs were using the "refs jobbed us" excuse for losing.

Still, if he keeps his mouth shut, his team has a chance to get back into the game..............according to the post game commentary

In the video he drops his stick before getting checked. Are you suggesting the video is lying?

I see him favouring the slashed wrist and throwing his other arm in the air to alert the refs.

So he was embellishing? Or was he pissed off at previous calls made in the game, and thought this was as bad or worse?

Are you even reading what you are responding to? What embelishment?

He was slashed jn the left hand, dropped with stick with left hand and.threw the right one up in the air in disgust.

Go back and watch it again.

Slashed on the left hand.............continues to hold onto stick, while raising right hand.........collides with other player and drops stick from left hand.

Watch the part in slow motion and tell me that's not what you see.

That angle shows it a bit better. He still holds on to his stick with the hand (left) that was slashed, and then drops is just before being hit.

So perhaps is was a missed call, but does not excuse him for taking a selfish penalty, making it easy for the Wild to close out the game.

So are you blaming the officiating for the loss?

I have not been reading the thread, but just went to watch the video first to try to see what everyone was going to be talking about.

He was slashed, and I thought he raised his right hand as if to signal the ref to call a penalty. Don't know what the debate is. There was no embellishment.

It's dopes.... It is what it is.

You watched the video and saw that the video showed. Dopes thinks that because he was slashed in the left hand and raised right hand (as you said to signal ref for a penalty, as everyone else has also said) he interprets that as embellishment (he said originally that he watched the replay over and over in slow mo and he wasn't even hit) as he said that if he was hit in left hand why raise right hand.

Yeah, that's dumb. I actually thought that I was making an original comment about signaling the ref, but if everyone else has said that before I read the comments, well...

If you know any refs, they don't appreciate being "shown up" by players holding out their arms, raising their hands signalling that they may have missed a call.

Then they certainly don't like be yapped at on the ice, and you saw what happened, Kessel took away any chance the leafs had at a comeback.

So blame the reffing if you must.

The act by Kessel was reactionary that happened in an instant. He was not, in anyway, trying to show anyone up. It happened in a second.

I will blame the refs then. If they can not handle professional athletes who are superior to them yapping at them, then get out of the game. They need to realize that they are not the reason why people watch the sport.

This.

No one wants to see the ref miss blatant calls (after having previously called lesser calls) and no one want to see the stars abused and then ripped by the refs.

They botched the call and then got full of themselves.

As I said earlier (a few times) I only was able to watch the last six minutes of the game, after the blackout was lifted at 1030, and only saw the incident involving Kessel.

What happened earlier in the game that would put some context on Kessel's reaction and prompted him to mouth off to practically all the officials on the ice?
