As I said earlier (a few times) I only was able to watch the last six minutes of the game, after the blackout was lifted at 1030, and only saw the incident involving Kessel.

What happened earlier in the game that would put some context on Kessel's reaction and prompted him to mouth off to practically all the officials on the ice?

- Doppleganger

#1 there doesn't need to be context of what happened previously in the game. He was blatantly slashed in the hands while carrying the puck into the offensive zone. The ref was right in front of him, 5feet away. He made a horrendous non call.

#2 there was a play earlier in the game(mentioned several times in this thread) where Winnik was hooked in front of the net, and he turns and whacked the guy. He got a penalty and the wild scored on the pp. It was Incredibly weak call (happens 50x/game). Missed the hook (IMO not a penalty as Winnik didn't have the puck, but the slash call was weak as ass).

Kessel gets slashed constantly.

The ref showed his ineptitude for missing the blatant clear as day slash right in front of his face, and then showed poor judgement for calling an unstportsmanlike penalty after missing such an egregious call.

The slash where the leaf (Winnik) two handed chopped the guy in the ankle? That I saw that in the post game wrap up.

That sure looked 100% like penalty to me, and very far from a "weak call" as you seem to think.

Perhaps you blue coloured glasses are affecting your vision?

Again, if Kessel sucks it up, holds his temper until after the, perhaps the leafs have chance to tie the game. Instead, because he could not put the team first, he yapps off his mouth and puts the leafs down a man, and takes away and chance to pull even with the Wild.

You can't be happy with the way he reacted.

That was indeed a weak call.... if that was a penalty, so was the hook that made him slash him.... and so are 50 other plays each game. It was weak

I love how people say Kessel was selfish on that play. He was trying to get the ref to call a penalty (that rightfully should have been called). He didn't go off on his own, causing the team to be shorthanded (IE Kovalev play), he didn't stop mid play and have a tantrum. He never stopped playing, he yelled at the refs. There is nothing selfish on that play.

exactly. Did he stop playing?? When he got called for the penalty he had the puck. He never once stopped during the play. But I wouldn't expect you to understand seeing as you said you watched replay in slow mo repeatedly and couldn't properly relay what actually happened on the play.

What it looked like to me is that the play was still going on, but he was having a fly-by conversation with ever on-ice official he could find - I wasn't surprised to see him take the penalty before he ran out of NHL employees.

He definitely gets slashed often, and as long as the refs don't call these, opposing players will continue to take the shots. Kessel has speed and skill to burn, but occasionally he's going to blow up at the refs out of frustration. Which, sadly, will only turn the refs more against him.

Why do you have to lie?

I never said he stopped playing.

Look, I understand your position, the refs Effed the leafs, and Kessel did nothing wrong when yapping off at the refs and getting called for an unsportsmanlike penalty......that's what he's susposed to do, and it helped the leafs get back into the game.

You can never see anything wrong with Kessel, or any memeber of the leafs, they are always perfect and should never be criticized for anything.........it's sacrilegious.

However, even though I'm a fan of the Senators, I am quite comfortable in pointing out mistakes and bad decisions made by the Senator players.

In tonights' game, late in the third period, Karlsson was called for hooking and yapped at the refs, because he thought it was a "weak call" and he was given an additional two minutes. He should have kept his mouth shut, and gone directly to the penalty box. For Christs sake, he has to set the example for the other players on his team, he;s the freaking Captain.

But Kessel is perfect, he does not urinate, or defecate.

Ah, called you out as a Liar, and instead of posting the (nonexistent) quote where I supposedly said what you accused me of, you try to "move on" with this lame ass reply, thereby acknowledging that you are the liar that I said you were.

You're such a joke.

Sarcastically asking if he played on like a pro, but you didn;'t say he stopped.

and then repeatedly posting this quote, and you've accused me of not posting it. Delusional.

Kessel 41 games 18 goals 23 assists 41 points
Ryan 37 games 12 goals 15 assist 27 point

On pace for

Kessel 36g 46a 82p
Ryan 24g 31a 55p

Ryan has missed 3 games..so only played 37 of the sens 40
so I calculated based on 40 sens games

well I hope it heals before his new contract kicks in be cause those numbers are not very good for a 7+ mil player

his stats with Ottawa (106 games) he is a 57 point player with Ana he was around 63

It’s unusual, according to Sens fans, the crappy play of it’s best players has been attributed to injury for quite some time. It was used to excuse Bobby Ryan’s crappy play last year (wrist I think they said at that point), and Karlsson’s inability to play defense is still being blamed on his Achilles (despite him never really being ever to play defense). It’s coming up on two years since he injured it, and over 20 months since he’s returned.

Injuries seem to have extra long and significantly worse effects in Ottawa than they do in the rest of the world.

Even weirder, Bobby Ryan seemed to be feeling the effects of that injury, and scoring at a mid 50s point pace, for the two years before leaving Anaheim, while playing with two of the best players in the world.

I guess the Ottawa Senators feel the effects of their injuries before they have them too.

His last season in Anaheim he was battling some intestinal virus, and last season in Ottawa he had to be taken out of the line up for his hernia issue, that he was trying to play through, but could not effectively. And now this season he's playing through with a broken finger, so Yes, I hope he heals up soon and shows what he can do when 100% healthy.

Some players just seem to be snake bit at times when it comes to health issues, Alfredsson went through this a bit early in his career, and there are players like Lupul who also have seems to be snake bitten with injuries and being able to stay in the line up on a consistent basis.

I think it’s obvious he’s still feeling the effects of cancer. When he recovers, he’ll be 50 goals/100 points plus every year, easy.

JVR? I heard he sprained his ankle. There’s another 40 goal scorer, once he’s healthy. Remember when Phaneuf had a +/- of something like +18 early last year, was playing unreal on both sides of the rink? What you don’t know, is that it’s his true self, but he’s just been injured since then.

It’s amazing, a healthy Leafs squad is good for about 450 to 500 goals, I’d say, with 3 or 4 Norris level dmen. We just need them to be healthy.
