Net Operating Loss is independent of share price, it's solely a function of expenses exceeding revenues. |

what he said x 3.....
And Billionairs don't get that way by lining up to lose money, He probably overpaid to ensure he could get a team that could be easily moved to the market he has his eyes on
This guy has his eyes on a bigger hockey market and generating more revenues
Move in T - minus 4 years....
Book it

Quit stirring up crap, people have been saying the same thing about the Preds for years, said it about the Stars for a few years, and even Pittsburgh for a while. I think all the negative stuff is reported to try to get better deals and tax breaks. Look at the growth of values in franchises over the last 20 years. There isn't money to be made owning and running a franchise, you make money by selling them.
Dollar Bill Wirtz tried for years to kill the Blackhawks and they seem to have made it just fine.

You are not informed on the situation in any way. The Coyotes - like or not - are here to stay and no matter how you want to cook the books, the team is in a great position to make a profit. Ice Arizona didn't "get out" they got a deep pocketed partner. They have made hundreds of intelligent deals and moves to put this franchise on the right path (example: Gilla River deal, Ticketmaster deal, etc. etc.etc.)
My point in the article is that if you try to claim you're in a losing market and can't make money, then your argument is severely undercut by the value of your franchise doubling in a year and if you tried to enact the clause I would bet 1000000:1 that you get sued.
The NHL wouldn't let this deal go through if the new owner had any designs on moving the team - they've simply worked too hard to for too long to allow it to happen.
The people making this out to be a negative are the absolute worst type of commentators because they don't care about facts, precedent or anything, really, but driving their negative, panic ridden agenda.
The sky is not falling and this is very good news to anyone who wants the team to stay in Arizona. |

I wish they'd build an arena downtown or on the East side, there'd be no issues then, sadly I don't see that happening. |

How are they in a great position to make a profit, unless they cook the books? The only party that I see benefiting from this is Ice Arizona, who now get to share the losses.

Bettman inflated the value of the team when he said expansion teams would cost $400 million or more.
Why pay that much when you could buy an existing team with an out clause in their lease for less, and move them?
This move was all about buying low and selling high when groups from Seattle and Quebec start bidding. Sorry to say it but the Yotes are an asset, ripe to be flipped.
Also, the team's value went up because of the new TV deals, but that revenue will still be rolling in, regardless of what city the team is in.
JT's optimism reminds me of the vibe here in Vancouver when Michael Heisley bought the Grizzlies and committed to keeping them here...
