Congrats to the Islanders, they are a really good team. They have a lot of Speed and play great on the boards. I'm happy we got a point.

"Upper body" but, per Staple, not a concussion. Had me fooled...he looked like he didn't know what planet he was on after that hit.

Good for Leddy, where's he at in the lineup?

I couldnt stand him when he was here, except when he would skate REAL fast past everyone.

But is he 1st pair, 2nd pair, 3rd pair?

2nd pairing with Boychuck right now, but I'd hardly consider it "2nd' in the literal sense. Hamonic and Hickey have been our top defensive pairing but Leddy and Boychuk have been equally as important. Leddy has looked solid so far, no real defensive shortcomings that I heard so much about over in the Hawks thread. So far no complaints.

Good for him. Maybe the change of scenery finally flipped the switch in his head.

He did have a botched play defending Hertl that led to a goal last night where he went to pick off the pass and it didnt work out. But so far, in a small sample size, he's been largely positive.

Part of it was Leddy getting an opportunity to show and do more. He wasn't going to get that in Chicago given the depth chart there.

Totally agree. It has to be overwhelming knowing that, pretty much, no matter how well you play..you're not going to beat out those guys in front of you. Here I think he has the opportunity to prove himself and earn a first or second pairing role.

Good to see the Islanders as a solid team again.

Wonder how it happened with Garth Snow but hey... results are FINALLY showing this year.

Tavares-Okposo are dominating out there.

That's the key word - opportunity. However, time will tell if he can stick in a paring that's higher than a third paring role. The upside is there for Leddy, but one of the questions was if he has enough upstairs to become a guy that could hold down a bigger role on a team - especially a team that's deep and a contender.

Well he'll be given an opportunity now and we have enough prospect depth on the blue line if it doesn't work it's not going to kill us.

Fun to watch because they haven't forgotten the lessons of 2013 when we had a healthy goalie and now we've brought in the veteran presence on the backline we had with Streit along with maturity of our now "older" young defensemen.

Not from everyone.

Mainly from a few bitter self appointed talent evaluators that in reality work security and clean up at strip clubs.

Also, a lot of Isles "experts" said Snow would never trade for Leddy and were saying the same about his up side. Too many better prospects in your system etc...

Time will tell and I doubt Leddy will ever be physical or a complete stopper on defense like Boychuck but PAIRED with a Boychuck type.... You basically traded a top d prospect for a developed top d prospect 4-5 years more mature.

Leddy is only 23. How many d men are reaching their peak at 23? This was the point a few of us were making repeatedly on the Hawks thread. Leddy has some dominant possession stretches in the RS last year and his speed is amazing.

Good move for both teams... if Pokka works out.

The pairing with Boychuck can't hurt either.

Boychuk is the key to our defense right now. Huge addition.

I was wrong about this, but then I figured snow would add one defenseman through trade, if that, and Boychuk was the one I wanted and thought we needed. Leddy was a bonus and much better than I expected although through only 4 games
