I wonder if that worked against them, the coach appeared to spend a ton of time getting the matchups he wanted (i.e. away from Coots/Read line)...I just wonder if they focused too much on that... - JW98FlyerFan
Pierre McGuire seemed to think it was of the utmost importance. He was doing backflips and punching baby otters saying what a fantastic genius move it was by the coach to get Crosby's line away from Couturier's on an early-game faceoff. |

I think the Pens are the most stubborn team in the league. They are going to play a specific way and will not change. They want to skate up and down the ice recklessly and win because they'll pot more of their chances than the other team. Their gap control is worse than the Flyers. They just have better horses than the Flyers so it's not as magnified. Unless they change, they will have the same playoff result as years' past. |

Does Malkin have a little Sean Couturier Halloween display on his front yard? He is definitely the stuff of Geno's nightmares. - MBFlyerfan

they are much more disciplined against other teams. the wreckless abandon and dirty poop just boils out against the flyers. they become spoiled children.
its annoying. |

yeah actually i just got off the phone with him. he says he wants to switch sides. the rocky costume was his attempt to fit in. |

Agreed. I was a little surprised that Crosby seemed to back off a bit after the opening few minutes when he looked absolutely lethal out there. |

I guess. I don't think they were dirty last night. It just seems like they always want to score off the rush |

Malkin had several good scoring chances. Fortunately for the Flyers he didn't convert any of them. |

That does seem to be their bread and butter, but like you said it does leave them vulnerable |

Yeah, I don't really get that. I mean, if I dressed up as 3 separate rivers, or a sandwich with french fries on it, that's more endorsing something than mocking it. I guess I'm missing something. |

yeah they werent. they cleaned some of that off of their roster. but even from normally clean guys sometimes it has a tendency to show in flyers games.
and yes. that is what they want. i think crosby and malkin just want these glorious highlight plays against the flyers, more than they would against other teams. and it hurts them. |

Grossmann had nagging injuries last year and had the worst month of his entire NHL career in January but was very solid -- in tandem with Streit -- after the Olympics last year. He was also good in the Rangers series until the ankle injury.
Nick is what he is. We all know his strengths and limitations. What I will say is that Berube has a lot of faith in him and that ultimately is what matters more than the circular debates about him. - bmeltzer
Thanks Bill. I like what he brings to the team knowing no nhl team can have 6 Drew Doughtys. Either way I wouldn't be surprised if he is down a few pounds this year as he seems to be moving around a little easier. Of course it could just be the faster refresh rate on my new tv. |

It does seem that Crosby is getting a bit of the Lindros treatment by the refs...After the second period Grossman hit Crosby with his stick accidentally as they were finishing a play after the horn blew, crosby went over to the linesman complaining and the linesman gave him the STFU and head nod and pointed to the lockerroom...
The other example is following the Umberger wrestling match, crosby was yapping constantly to the ref while simmonds just stood there leaning on his stick...
I guess I missed how much he does complain to the refs...it never worked for Lindros either... |

i mean he did look like a pretty flamboyant rocky.... but i wonder the intent level on that one.
although id like to see you try to pull off the first costume |

I could probably do it with a few rolls of duct tape and some large plastic tarps. I have created 4-foot, fully-enclosed lakes in my parents' front yard for our annual drunken yard golf event (15 years and going strong). |

haha im honored.
but seriously isnt it appalling?
all the lateral quickness in the world, but the dude literally could probably up his save percentage if he was forced to play without a stick. |

Maybe the hit from Zac shook him up, I thought he was pedestrian from that point on. |
