John Scott gets 2 games for leaving the bench to fight. It was a legal line change, but Scott directly started a fight, which is an reviewable offense. - Jsaquella

Hammer, sorry to be a Debbie downer but the car does not run on salt water. It is an electric car just like current electric cars. It has a battery technology that stores electricity using salt water 5x as well as current barriers which is great. However, the range of the battery is stil in question which is really the biggest hurdle for all electric cars. Here is a video explaining the technology. I too was confused by the adversizing and poor language choice the company choose. https://www.youtube.com/w...er_embedded&v=0Uk0GQNgtqg - coffee junkie
i know batteries are involved...i just didn't get into the whole thing here. i was really just highlighting another emerging technology in the context of the gas price conversation. |

Imagine they don't make the deal. They keep Lupul and Sbisa, have a shot to draft Ryan O'Reilly and Justin Faulk, maybe have the assets to swing a deal for a good, younger defenseman than Pronger to develop him, or use Carter or Richards to add a good defenseman.
It's likely the assets spent to add Grossmann & Kubina don't get spent, which opens the door to guys like Ville Pokka and Sebastien Collberg. If they had drafted O'Reilly, they probably take Dougie Hamilton instead of Couturier. - Jsaquella

Just fun to play "what if" every now & again. No Pronger likely means no 2010 SCF run, so it's not all bad that they made the deal. |

What if Emery's hip didnt give out on him? I'm convinced that we would've won the Cup in 2010, and all your logic and reason and poop will never convince me otherwise. Ever.

All I know is we can speculate on what might have happened, and that can be fun. But I loved the Pronger trade when they made it, and still love it now. Unfortunate that a freak injury ended his career. I'd make that deal every single time, without hesitation. |

Absolutely -- I'd do that deal again tomorrow. Duncan Keith was excellent for the Blackhawks that season, but man, I still think Pronger should've won the Norris for exactly what he did for the Flyers |

what about the contract and how that worked out in terms of thinking he was exempt from the rule, etc... that part still bugs me a bit, but i don't pretend to know all the facts. |

Didn't change anything. I don't know whether they did know, or didn't know. And don't really care. Even if we stipulate that they didn't know, and were under the wrong impression. I don't think it would have stopped them from making the deal. So it's really moot in my opinion. |

Oh Man, everyone keeps forgetting the goalie carousel that year with Boosh and Leighton coming in and doing the incredible. That thought rattled around in my head, a healthy Emery with previous final experience
And of course who can forget the several years before when Hackett retired because of "positional vertigo". Help I've fallen and cant get up ( please bring me my beer) |

Elaborate please.
Edit: I'm guessing you mean it's because he didn't jump in to further elongate a fight that his team started, then re-started, despite being up by 3 goals. Why should he have? - jmatchett383
Why wouldn't he? If they're up by three goals, what does Niemi have to lose? The rest of his team had no problem with mixing it up. |

I'm so glad berube is gonna throw fuel on the goalie controversy fire and start emery who has been good but not great. Berube can say all he wants about the team not playing well in front of Mase but actions speak louder and his starter will now be sitting 3 straight... Sorry but we should've learned last spring we're not getting anywhere with emery. |

Actually Emery has been great. No question.
Berube's number one goal should be to win games, not to be sensitive to the feelings of his players when they haven't played well. Right now you ride the hot hand. Emery has three victories, Mason has zero. It's a no Brainer. I'd allow Emery to face both LA and Tampa this week and give Mason Florida to start rebuilding his confidence. |

In a bit of irony, dropping fuel prices are what's killing the Canadian dollar, which in turn is very bad news for the NHL. |

Damn. I didn't realize that Carolina is still winless. You've gotta think Francis blows up that roster as much as he can this offseason. They have a TON of money tied up in their forwards too.
I'm not a fan of the Staal's. I cant believe Eric has carried an 8.25 million dollar cap hit from 2009 thru 2016. His salary is backloaded too. He's getting paid 9.25 this year and 9.5 next year. Absolutely unreal. As for Jordan. Thats the most unmovable contract in the league(minus guys who had career ending injuries) in my eyes. |

Admittingly I'd have to look over the roster this season but I can't think of a guy I'm truly interested in. Not even Jeff Skinner. |

i still like staal as a player. i dont think hes ever going to be that offensive force he may want to be, but in the right position, he is quite an asset. however, on that team, in that role, and at that salary, perfect storm of yuck. |
