What's your definition of doomed? 25th in the league at even strength goal differential above only Winnipeg, Edmonton, Arizona, Buffalo, and Carolina. - psuhockey

Thanks Bill. It's nice to see that Chief communicates well to the media, and to his team. He doesn't rake anyone of the coals in public, but he does point out the teams needs, and is fully aware of what needs addressing. I feel good about the team of Hexy and Chief at the helm. We may not have the best players on the ice right now, but it gives me reason for hope, and confidence in how the team is being managed. I just hope that our kids can develop quickly, and that some of these long term deals can end. Once that can be accomplished, I think that the Flyers will be a much better team, and the future looks bright. Oh, and have you seen the results of investing in the Phantoms? Nice.

I'm thinking VdV - jmatchett383
Is VdV a natural center? If so, then yeah, I think he's gonna go back down.
Also, waiver considerations with Akeson? I am no expert in these matters. |

I think Akeson does have to go through waivers. Not sure though, |

No problem with riding Emery's hot streak.
But it probably means that Mason is gonna get shelled in Tampa on Thursday by an elite offensive team playing at home. Which is unfortunate after the way he got hung out to dry against NJ, Dallas and Chicago. |

So, if Vinny the Cavalier is close to coming back.....who is gonna sit? It ain't gonna be Bellemare, that's for sure.
Blair Jones is already sitting.
I think it's between VDV and Art Ross Akeson at this point. - johndewar
Probably VDV since he's a center and not good at faceoffs, at least this season in the NHL. I would rather have Jones at 4C tomorrow than VDV.

When Vinny is fit:

BSchenn-Lecavalier-Simmonds

As of right now, I'd give Emery both starts and give Mason Saturday. |

I was excited to see the Sharks/Ducks line brawl just to find out Antti Niemi is a huge vagina. - SuperSchennBros
Elaborate please.
Edit: I'm guessing you mean it's because he didn't jump in to further elongate a fight that his team started, then re-started, despite being up by 3 goals. Why should he have? |

There are still a load of good pieces, and I feel Hextall has the right plan and approach to the future. That's why I'm ok taking some lumps now, as the team gets re tooled and the foundation gets build. - Jsaquella

Yep. Emery has played above his standard level and Mason has played below his. Probably better to play Mason in this situation. |

Excellent read and why a lot of posters had a "negative" perspective heading into the season. They're not going to win often when they play like they did vs Detroit. They still struggle at 5 on 5, still have issues in terms of possessing the puck and driving the game.
- Jsaquella
They were also playing against Detroit missing their top 3 defenseman. That is a major contributor to the increased struggle to move the puck, and spend less time, in their own end. Detroit also played without fear of getting burnt in transition, and the Flyers wounded defense was a likely factor in that strategy by Detroit.
The Flyers as of right now, are not oout of the playof picture, and there's a lot of season left. And lot's of time to fix some of the issues they've been having at 5 on 5. |
