My vote, is a big no. And I love Carter as a player. I knew how good he was when he was here, and I know how good he is now. But I wouldn't take either trade back. - MJL
yeah. from a flyers perspective, i still take both of those trades big time.
and i think when pressed, a lot of flyers fans say they wouldnt undue them. yet they are still lamented about. i know carter is tearing it up over there, but it doesnt diminish the return you guys got.
it was quite the rebuild on the fly. richards deal in particular, was probably a godsend just to get out of it, let alone get simmonds AND schenn out of it. you managed to have such a dynamic influx of young, quality assets while making the shift from richards to giroux rather seamlessly.
young, cost controlled talent is how you win in todays NHL, and it was quite the haul of that. |

Carter is the guy they could use most right now, but they also got a better return for him - Jsaquella
would you trade Carter back for either Couturier or voracek? |

if you could undue either of those two trades, would you? - stayinthefnnet
No. Not at all.
Still curious at the behind-the-scenes of that whole day, beyond what has been reported in the press (I'm certain there's more to what led to these trades beyond what has been reported).
But I like who we got. Even the Richards deal (I never wanted Richards gone) got us Wayne Simmonds. |

yeah. it definitely helps to be able to look back on it now with hindsight, but i still think those deals are highway robbery. |

Me either, even though they were/are good players. We go over this from time to time, but again: Mike Richards looked about as miserable as I've ever seen a Philadelphia athlete during that final season, and if you moved Richards, then you just about had to move his BFF
Flyers did well in those trades, Kings wound up with both players and got what they needed. But the story's not fully written, because I truly believe that if the Flyers defensemen pan out, they can win a Cup within the next 3 to 5 years
Not whistling past the graveyard, either -- they have to get some pieces and fix some things, but they are closer than some might think |

The team that got truly robbed was Columbus. |

initially i was quick to agree, but now thinking it over.
would you move schenn for richards if you could?
it would be another center, an older player, and the contract becomes yours again. |

most certainly. all those assets ultimately becoming jack johnson.
with the way their team is starting to come together, jake and couturier would be awesome adds.
can argue i guess jake was never going to properly develop there i guess, but if he was lined up with johnansen id sure like his chances.
and then couturier would mesh perfectly with their tough defensive style. |

Columbus would be fairly stacked right now if they held onto either of Carter or Voracek/Couturier.
All they have to show for all of that mess is Jack Johnson.

Probably not and I really liked Mike Richards and don't particularly care for Brayden Schenn.
The contract thing is too much to ignore. |

Negative -- that contract runs until 2019-20, with an NMC

this is where i fall on the matter as well.
always respected richards, but if he was back on the flyers with that deal, long term i think it would be more problematic than beneficial. (assuming vinny cant be moved.)
and until 2019 is a longgggg time |

I think that Richards is still a valuable player and has been stifled, a bit (for better or worse) overall in LA. I don't mind B Schenn either way, take him or leave him, but I think Richards could come back and perform in a 25G/35A kind of way. Maybe I'm dreaming, but something seems to be lacking on the ice since he left. I think he would be more valuable to the Flyers than B Schenn. That said, he'd likely have to play center, so you'd have to move out VL to open up the roster spot and cap space. |

The Flyers just aren't in a position to take that kind of contract back for a declining player. Voracek's looking like he's gonna get a big one, next time around, and if Couturier plays like he has thus far this season, the cap hit Richards takes is gonna be Couturier's, if not more
