no rookie status is 25 games.

here's some info from wiki.... so who knows if it's right

Unrestricted free agency

- Mungo[edit]
On July 1 of a given year, the following players become unrestricted free agents, free to sign with any team without compensation to the former team.

Group 3 free agents: Players who have reached age 27, or have 7 accrued years of NHL experience, whose contracts have expired
Group 6 free agents (must be elected by the player): Players who have reached age 25, who have 3 accrued years of professional experience (that is, beyond junior or collegiate hockey), and whose contracts have expired, but have played less than:
80 NHL games played for forwards and defensemen.
28 NHL games played for goaltenders.
Players whose contracts have been bought out by their former team.
Players who do not meet either Group 3 or Group 6 requirements, but who have not been tendered a contract offer by the Monday after the NHL Entry Draft or June 25 (whichever is later). All other players are Group 2 restricted free agents. (See the next section.)
For purposes of the above, an accrued year is generally defined as having been on an NHL roster for 40 games in a season (30 for goaltenders).

Interesting, but I can't see a situation making sense getting 39 games out of him and then sending him back. Either you hope he is ready and plays the rest of the season or send him back before the 10th game and his free agent status is pushed back.

I understand the notion maximizing seasons before free agent status but IMO if a player is ready and you burn a half season or whatever its more important for that player to develop properly than trying to pinch pennies down the road.

Probably don't bench the guy who is playing Carolina.
- CubanBuffet

You're right. I think Lehner would have to sit. Columbus scares me more than Calgary and Carolina. Although he's been playing pretty well lately

So we want Brayden Schenn now?
Are we going to become a team of centers only?

Hank, Bonino, Richardson, Mathias, Vey, Bo, McCann, Cassels, Gaunce, and Schenn plus we are looking to Draft McDavid.

- Linden_4_Capt

Schenn has played a lot of LW as well, and hell ya I would love Schenn. He might not ever be a star but the guy hits like a truck for his size and has good offensive instincts. Things this team needs in its top 6.....or rather entire lineup.

You must have used the Chipotle Tabassco; surprisingly gentle and quite aromatic

No. The Garlic Tabassco. Oh, and pickled asparagus.

I didn't get to watch the whole game against the caps, but what struck me was how scrambled the play was in the neutral zone, by both teams. It was Benny Hill esque in the number of turnovers. Sure, it was faced paced, but the puck was seriously jumping.

That Sbisa goal doesn't go in most nights.

Hopefully another good effort tonight against a dismal opponent.

I went to the game in Vancouver last year, it was the first time the two had played eachother since the incident. No scrap.

I'm so ashamed to cheer for the worst team in the league, with the worst fans, in the worst market.

I also learned that the best way to avoid disappointing playoff performances is to miss the playoffs.

Most certainly. Edmonton fans could learn a thing or two from Panthers fans.

Just read it, and man, those Panther 'fans' are more sensitive than Leaf fans, and that's saying something.
