Montreal got a SO win over calgary tonight.
They lost against Edmonton.
Wonder what kind of team we'll see Thursday night? Tired or hungry to salvage a winning record this road trip?

Montreal had no business being in that game. Out shot by a 2 to 1 margin. I do still think they are probably one of the top 2 teams in the east.
But no team from the east has an opportunity against the california teams when it all comes down to the playoffs. |

How many empty net goals did the Canucks score last year? I don't recall one. This year it seems they put one in every game. |

Terrified of icing the puck instead and dealing with Torts after.

As much as empty net goals are a laugh there is something to be said about putting away a team when they are pressing.
Obviously a pretty easy win tonight but all 4 lines looked good and Miller played well. If this team keeps playing the way it has I might have to give Benning, Miller and Bonino a bit more slack.
Good to see Vey score again but he still has a pretty cushy job on that PP. Also was awesome to see one of Kassian's slick passing plays not die on Richardson's stick. Kassian did definitely not get 8 hits tonight (yahoo) but the other night he was credited for 1 when I saw 4 so I guess it evens out. |

He makes the 1st unit PP a lot better and gives it more options. Keep in mind that he's technically a rookie and being given a chance to shine. On that note, I really like that the PP is a lot less predictable and both units look really dangerous. If they can at least score 1 PP goal or so per game, they'll win a lot more than they'll lose most nights. |

It is a fine line.
Would people feel comfortable with two rookies on a line?
Higgins Horvat Vey
Jensen Bonino Vey
Arcibald Vey Dorsett
Looking at some of the players and what they bring, some more shuffling and time is needed to see who plays well together. Wondering what Kassian and Vey would look like together? Not sure if it would work on the defensive side of the puck- WD seems to try and put Vey out there on offensive zone starts and Kassian can be a real adventure at times.
He might be under utilized, so is Kassian to a certain extent too- Kassian should be given a shot on 2nd unit pp. |

Have they played anyone good yet? Dallas are still a bubble team no, an St Louis kind of shat the bed last season. Pleasantly surprised with Vrbata, he's working out well, still in the fence with Miller, but no doubt he is an upgrade on Lack/Markstrom. |

I just wanna compare these stats, because as an engineer I like numbers, at certain points throughout the year regardless of who they've played. At the 20 game mark I'll look at it again and see if it's dramatically changed after playing some of the California teams…which I'm pretty sure it will. |

I wouldn't mind seeing Horvat with Higgins and Kassian
But I'd also like to see
Jensen Bonino Burrows
Higgins Horvat Kassian
Or something like that.
Heard they were saying that Sestito spoke with Benning to see what the team's plans were for him and that if he wasn't going to be given a shot, he wants to go somewhere that will play him.
I keep on thinking the team should trade someone to open up some spots or half hopig we see some little injuries that create opportunities.
(I really am not sold on Burrows being on the 2nd line, but appreciate he is playing better this year just not sure what kind of production is fair to expect from him not being on the top line) |

Vintage you're giving up Marty St Louis, Joe Thornton and Berra for Cam Ward and Radim Vrbata? Seems a little lopsided no? You needed a starter? |

Benning has to sh!t or get off the pot with Sestito. If he doesn't really have a future with the team, not WD's type of player, then we will need that roster spot even if it is really just a spot for someone in the press box.
If Horvat is going to make the team, moves are needed or its waivers.
If Horvat is going back to junior then who cares I guess. |
