i will miss tomorrow's game as i will be in an early evening partner meeting. of all the games to miss, an away game in TB may be the one. though i may channel my inner Cynthia Gibb and wear headphones during the meeting. |

Or the state could stop recognizing marriage. - NickTheKid87
well, from a narrow, technical standpoint, marriage needs to be (or is at least extremely useful) recognized in SOME capacity. call it what you want, attach to it what you will, but in some form something needs to be there.
it gets bogged down because it means so many things to so many different people, which leads to a lot of problems. but thats big, cumbersome issues like DOMA laws and junk like that. the boards been rough as it is today so i wont inject any personal beliefs on things of that magnitude in here.
however, stripping aside the sparkle, marriage has roots deeply entwined with contract law. as such, to me, prenupts should have a much more predominant role than they currently do. they get looked at with such scorn, when in actuality they are a tremendously undervalued and underutilized tool. |

most people don't want to spend that part of their relationship thinking about those types of things and many don't want to even think of it at all. in so many contracts i work on between partners, where the subject matter is business, not even marriage, the partners typically want to give short shrift to the shotgun clauses, put options, break-ups, etc. They are friends now and don't want to deal with what happens when they aren't. it's my job to make sure they understand what's going to happen if they don't address the issues now. given that it's business enterprise, many folks will at least spend some time then addressing the matter. most (financially unsophisticated) folks don't think about getting a lawyer before they get married nor should they. |

The number one meal at Chick-Fil-A is the best.
Everything else is superfluous and unnecessary from that store.
Except for the Peach milk shake.

100 percent this. i understand that/why the average person doesnt think about these things, the fear of negative thinking and things like that. but still, prenupts have been given such a negative connotation in contemporary society.
by the way your job sounds great. we do a lot of things like that in small simulations, but its hard to effectively parallel the real thing. |

Stop... that was a much needed venting on .500 hockey teams and the unwillingness of certain people to see past their nose.
These nose people need to be outed otherwise they'll pollute the gene pool. |
