I just got to say that I enjoy your blogs! Keep up the good work! Have no idea why the oiler fans are all horned up for Henderson's blogs... But his writing style is for small children So it makes sense. |

Calling them gutless seems a mite strong for one bad period.
Did you already forget that the Oilers beat 2 of the 3 top teams in the league plus Washington to boot last week? There's a lot of Flames fans who'd be thrilled to see us do even two of those 3 next week.
Since when is it a mortal sin to lose to the Canucks by one goal?
I enjoy reading your blogs - the rants, not so much.... |

Time to move on dude. You're better off staying in the 80's when times were good for the Oil.
I bet you're one of those guys that say "If Roloson never got hurt, the Oil would have won the cup" |

Wouldn't it be worth sucking out just 1 more year to land McDavid? |

I'm sure Taylor Hall would love another bottom 2 finish. |

It all seems very inconclusive. I've never seen anything legitimate that shows Kassian intended to hurt Ganger or that he mocked him for it. Frankly, there are so many players in this clip that aren't on either roster (including Ganger), that it's past time to give it up.
Very amusing blog, though. The Oilers certainly got stifled in the last period. It would have been frustrating as hell from an Oiler perspective. As a Canuck fan, I would have lost my mind if they hadn't won that game. |

"Ben Scrivens took the Oilers out behind Rexall Place and shot them four minutes into the third period. Inexplicably, he played the puck directly to Derek Dorsett for a shorthanded goal that stunned everyone in attendance and watching around the world"
this was good.
but id like to ask about the part where Eakins said he was concerned that the guys were going back to the well too often by trying to enter the zone instead of dumping and chasing to negate their strategy of lining up.
if they aren't doing what he asked how does this point to poor coaching? I understand the "execution" part cause, well, they didn't execute the plan.
cause they don't like him so they didn't listen and this equals a weak coach?
maybe im just missing something here |

I guess we'll agree to disagree. meh. its funny how people can have different biases and see completely different things. I seriously find it crazy that you didn't see him mocking gagner about the shield he caused him to wear. what was your impression of kassians gestures and what he was saying?? "your chinstrap is loose?" or maybe "you've got some food on your face"?
and as an oiler fan, im losing my mind that we didn't win that game |

Its a valid question. But what we need to understand is these guys are professional athletes and losing is not in there blood.
Besides, I dont care how badly they blow, they are not even remotley as bad as carolina or Buffalo.
I've said it before, I'll say it again. The Oil have the talent to be a playoff team but there young, and they play like it. There is something wrong with there structure.
I dont think its Eakins, I think its just young guys running around doing what they want to.
If Eakins loses his job its the players fault not his. |

"inadequate effort, incompetent coaching, and insufficient urgency" The poor result in the third wasn't exactly from these; the urgency was there, to the extent they were trying to do too much. The loss of Hall really screwed the line combinations. Yakupov also looked out of place in his minutes with Nuge. |

The mocking only happened in games following the stick work to the face. But yes there was mocking. |

By that rule I guess we can go after ference and hall. Like you said, no brain, no concussion. |

If Eakins was able to describe what the team should be doing down the stretch when the other team lays back, I am pretty sure he also conveyed that message to his players. I don't know whether he is the problem in Edmonton or not, but I don't think the situation described last night comes down to coaching. |
