He's a repeat offender, Burrows was not. - vancity787
Yes, logic would dictate that Ference gets more. But this is the NHL so that word is verboten |

This. And interesting fact digging about past suspensions for the Nucks - bezz44
Interesting fact #2
Only Tampa (42 in 12), Pittsburgh (41 in 10) and San Jose (41 in 13) have scored more goals than the Canucks (37 in 11) this season.
Obviously early in the season but that was one of my biggest concerns going into this season. |

Funny seeing us back up there with the offensive titans of the league. Was so normal a few years ago |

Yup good to see, hope they keep it up.
I should probably put Minnesota (35 in 10) up there as well because technically they have scored more per game as well. |

Burrows was late and from the blindside (apparently) I think those things were factored in as well. Will be interesting to see what ferrence gets with his history. |

Going to the game tonight, was one of the games in the pack we bought. Wasn't really looking forward to it to be honest, but with the Preds start, I've now changed my mind. |

I don't really understand the logic that blindside head-shot is worse than straight on either way head was PPC. I agree the Burrows hit was late but not later than many that go unpunished. In the NHL suspension video the quote is " nearly 1 full second after Emelin releases the puck", so if that's case any hit aft 1 full second or close to 1 full second should be deemed a late hit.
Volchenkov just got 4 games for his elbow to the back of the head of Ferland. No video explanation yet. |

I really didn't think the hit was all that late myself. If they're going to say that's late then i'd like to see them call interference on teams when they pin the sedins against the boards 1 second after they've passed the puck.
But i think they're trying to get rid of the predator hits on unsuspecting players. At least when a player sees it coming they can brace themselves a bit. I thought they were a bit harsh on Burrows since I feel Emelin sold it pretty hard. if he was truly hurt like it looked like he was when he was motionless on the ice he shouldn't have come back into the game. |

Province ripped sportsnet in today's paper. Randorph is (frank)ing awful. They even ripped Rogers for showing us Messier over and over. |

Burrows may not have been a repeat offender technically, but the NHL and officials have heard of him.
His reputation and history definitely hurt his case.
I was actually shocked that he had never been suspended before, considering how beloved he is by the powers that be.

As we all know the league needs to control headshots, was he targeted? If Ference targeted him, that will get sorted out on the ice, we still play them a few times. No point in whining for a suspension (like the Habs fans). What I would really like to see is some sort of consistency, if that’s possible. Hated to see Hall go down, they need him big time right now. It was a pretty good game Sbisa is getting better and Vey is showing some promise as well. Still need to be better in the faceoff circle. |

Yes he was. Kassian was in what is known as the Stevens zone. He had his head down(his fault) but a smaller player came across to check him which would have been a great open ice hit but he lunged upward left his feet, followed through and the main point of contacts the head. I have no problem with a player being destroyed from a clean hit with his head down but a smaller player led high and left his feet on a much larger player. I am not whining for a suspension. Frankly I don't give a f@ck about a suspension as the leagues ability to be consistent is a total joke. This was clearly an illegal hit to the head. |

Kassian has about 25lbs, 4" and about 10 years on Ference, we also play them again on the 19th of his month. Let the players not the league sort it out!

Biggest difference...transition offense and less "dump and change". Torts fully believed the only way to score was getting dirty/fluky goals. Desjardins believes in throwing a goalies timing off with one-timers, and quick puck movement with speed. Goalies these days are too good when they get a chance to get comfortable before a shot. |

Is that ECHL goon still in their roster? Maybe they'll re-sign Eager so he can get his ass kicked again by Kassian. |
