Once again the NHL will most likely demonstrate what a truly Mickey Mouse league it can be. People do actually watch hockey and surely they must be mystified as to how one player who hits another player in a much less impacting way gets a 4 game suspension while another player (with a history of suspension) will most likely get half that (I'm going with 2 max) for a play that was, for the sake of argument, similar if not worse.

And even if somehow Ference gets 4 games as well, the cumulative history of NHL suspensions is comical in its inconsistency

Good point, people that have never played sports at a fairly high level do not understand just how quickly things happen. They see things occur on slo-mo replay and think, oh man, the guy had at least a full second to change his trajectory or let up etc. It just doesn't work that way.

One other point of consideration that people don't seem to understand that I learned from contact sports. Namely, my coach ALWAYS emphasised that you NEVER let up once you are in the process of initiating the hit. Because that can, ironically, also lead to YOUR sustaining some serious injuries.

But getting back to the time-line issue - just count out 1 1000 and see if there is any definitive decision making allowance during that very short length of time. And now imagine yourself going 30 miles per hour and completely focused on your assignment, the action as its going on, as well as your positioning. Does anyone seriously think that a player has that much cerebral clarity and ability to always make the right decision considering all of these variables at play

I could be wrong, but I believe his nine games start now, weather he plays or not, he's in the roster. Makes sense then for him to play. Though I read earlier that with back to back days and travel he may not dress tonight. I guess we'll see.

Did not know that. May as well play him.

Did he play the max in Utica? (he played in 5 games, I think the max is 6, so no biggie) No points, not sure about his play. I guess they would rather sit Sestito. I am not upset about that, would have liked to see Horvat play the max allowable in Utica since the team is playing alright without him... might be able to improve f/o %.

Any word on projected lines? 3rd or 4th line for Bo?

The NHL has done several things wrong, and several things right over the last decade and, in my opinion, Have grown their supporters substantially.

One thing THIS year thay have gotten wrong is the use of helmet cams. why the hell do they only use them on saturday night hockey and not every game? The very first night they were used it was shown that the could provide substantial evidence on hits, goals etc.

It doesnt make any sense to me and pisses me off to no end.

yeah, I am a big fan of them. Not sure why they wouldn't implement them full time? why not have an extra view point for analyzing controversial goals etc.
