I'm wondering if it's because of all the sensitivities on team names and logos being racist. I know the Hawks aren't really in that firestorm but probably playing it safe. Or it could be just simply combining the old with the new. - golfbard
Your first thought was correct. Since the game is being played in DC, home of the Redskins, the NHL thought the vintage Indianhead is more offensive. It's a complete joke, but that's what happened. |

Hearing Peter Regin will be the one recalled by the Blackhawks from Rockford today. - golfbard
If this is the case I'm thinking 2-3 weeks or less for Sharpie. |

Since you're so sure about this, I assume you have quotable, identifiable sources. |

I would think they give McNeil or Danault an extended tryout otherwise... |

Blackhawks practice lines: Smith-Toews-Kane, Saad-Shaw-Hossa, Bickell-Kruger-Versteeg, Regin-Richards-Morin.
Line combos today. Don't like Richards burried on the fourth line. In fact, given how well Richards has been playing, I'd put him on line two or three and move Shaw and Kruger down. |

The NHL asked them to use the current logo. - GoBucky
>Don't know about this year's jersey, but I heard from a very, very good source that the Hawks jersey for the Soldier Field game vs the Pens was designed by the NHL & Reebok -- the "Stadium Series" people
>Hawks had very llttle, if any input, into that jersey and were not very happy with how it looked
>Guessing that the "Winter Classic mopes" at the NHL & Reebok are the ones who switched out the logo -- and that the Hawks have to comply due to NHL legal BS |

What would happen if they took the ice wearing their normal jerseys? Stop the game to have them change? Forfeit the game? Play the game but have Chicago forfeit the game? Would anyone really care (besides the marketing dolts)? |

>Bettman and the NHL successfully sued the NY Rangers, stopping the Rangers from the having the ability to do some types of internet marketing "outside" of NHL.com control -- and stopping the ability to put internet dollars directly into Rangers pockets (thereby setting precedent of shared NHL revenue)
>Don't think the Hawks want to get themselves into a feud with the NHL front office over jerseys
>Think they'll save their punches for more important issues
>If the Hawks are smart -- and they are -- they should offer the real '57 jersey through Mitchell & Ness with Bobby Hull's #16 (already offer the Hull '61) and add Glenn Hall's #1 as another '57 option |

I like reading JJ's thoughts but this entire piece can go right in the trash can. All that was left out was a power struggle in the front office. - Vanhawk
Thank you and sorry, guess I had an off day.
Curious though, when someone else (like a guy on the Score for example) reports on said power struggle, that's OK? I just can't quite figure that one out.
Funny thing is, I keep getting PMs here and elsewhere from people telling me to keep telling it like it is, even if sometimes it seems repetitive. When the story doesn't change (in some respects), but keeps impacting outcomes, to my mind, it bears repeating.

I like this. Instead of reworking everything because of one injury they are simply plugging in Regin right where Sharp was and keeping everything else the same. I think they can build chemistry off those lines, Regin and Morin played well together on our 3rd line last season. If there is one thing though, i agree that i might have Richards at 2C and Shaw at 4C(or possibly 4th line wing with Regin at center), but we'll see it might be fine the way it is.

Q just said Sharp out 3-4 weeks
Funny through Sharp's injury and the debate on who will get called up, we forgot about Car Bomb. Q said he could begin skating in a few days so he's not far from a return. |

no poop? Where did you see this?
Could be why they brought up Regin....I think I read somewhere that if he plays in less than 10 games he wouldn't have to go back down through waivers...and the 10th game from now is Dec 3rd which is approximately 4 weeks....

The whole "not naming sources" thing is interesting to me. I understand not specifically giving the persons name. But would ANYONE really know who was being talked about if you or a commentor said, "a front office assistand" or "a janitor" or something like that? Nobody knows who any of these people are besides the supposed insiders so what does it matter if you just give a general idea of the source?
Just curious |

Excuse me about being skeptical about un-attributable comments on the Internet.
There are so many of them.
I will continue to be skeptical and ask my questions. |
