I had no issue with RK...but he was a little underwealming as a coach IMHO.

The team started slow and fell apart at the end

- OilHorse

I guess the point is RK had the team battling/playing meaningful games. Can't say that about previous/current coaches.

And a counter point was that the team stumbled out of the gates when they shouldn't have. ..And stumbled to the finish dropping games they needed at the end of the year.

As i said. ..underwealming.

they were terrible when the playoff push came. they lost like 9/10 when games mattered.
the way they were trending, id bet theyre closer to 3rd last after 82 games than the 7th last they finished

we'll never know though

Yup true, we'll never know. Boring Tambo should of made a trade on deadline day. But who knows.

It's too bad that the Oil have turned us fans to only look at the negative side of things. It is what it is I guess

Again, I've got no problem with people casting shade on Eakins, but I really don't think Krueger would have us at the top right now or anything.

Exactly, we aren't trying to defend Eakins. Just saying there is no way one can know that Ralph would be better at this point.

It's pretty weird.

He played some great games. Has had a few pretty mediocre games. But he's not horrible by any stretch. And from Aulie play in the preseason alone, he should be no where near the roster.

Maybe aulies played well in the A?
Marincin trade/injury?
Marincin been asked to engage and play a grittier style and he hasn't= punishment?

- hugefemale dog77

apparently Aulie was been all worlds bad in OKC. OKC fans on twitter were shocked. Even Oesterle was considered above him at this point

Thing is. ..i am not a negative fan.

But i won't believe the hype on RK either.

Add i have said over and over. I think RK didn't get a fair shot. He read let go to early considering he did show positives.

But if i am to pick a rookie head coach...i wanted Nelson.

Is it true Pakarinnen is coming up from OKC to play with Yak and Lio?

Could he be the tsn turning point of the season?

I think it's also hard to keep the instances of utter futility straight. There were times that year that we looked straight up BAD and had no solutions. Times where we quit/got outworked, all the things that now plague the team.

In the end, I think it's about what we can do to improve the team going forward. And in my opinion adding to the top of our Dcore is absolute top of the list.

Of course not, not with this roster. But I highly doubt we would still be bottom feeders.

I find it peculiar that they disclosed that Marty was sitting a full 24 before the game.

But we were slowly progressing, with a worse team. Special teams was unreal, and with the talent we have there's absolutely no reason why our PP should be good.

this.
there's some serious revisionist history going on in these threads.
there were many nights that year where we were flat out brutal. ill debate all night with someone who tries to pawn off that Krueger had a better system 5v5. absolutely no chance imo. it was brutal.

and completely agreed on the defender. maybe a coaching change with a fundamentally different system would help abit. but there's at least two plausible roster additions that would help this squad more than a new coach imo

I think our team (yeah, a better roster) is PLAYING better than Krueger's Oilers 5 on 5. But we're getting worse results. Last year was a toss-up, probably even an edge to Krueger's guys, but this year is (unfortunately) the best I've seen the oilers play since 2008.

Special teams I agree with you. They're absolutely putrid under Eakins and if things don't get better, that may be reason enough to let him go.

Bottom feeding, in my mind, is when a team has no reasonable opportunity to be buyers at the trade deadline. I think this year's Oil will be buzzing around the playoffs by the deadline.
