I think our team (yeah, a better roster) is PLAYING better than Krueger's Oilers 5 on 5. But we're getting worse results. Last year was a toss-up, probably even an edge to Krueger's guys, but this year is (unfortunately) the best I've seen the oilers play since 2008.
Special teams I agree with you. They're absolutely putrid under Eakins and if things don't get better, that may be reason enough to let him go. - Morris

I totally agree special teams especially need to improve. Our powerplay is turning into a liability just like last year.

My opinion going into this season regarding Eakins has been that he gets 20 games to prove himself and that he needs to improve on his record from the last 62 games of last season. In those last 62 games we went 25-30-7 for 57 points or 46% of the possible points we could have gotten.
With the changes made in the offseason (both player and coaching staff) I don't see a reason to not expect the team to earn 50% or 20 points in 20 games. It's still doable but I'm not confident it will happen. |

I don't think this team this year will be bottom feeders. - Morris
This is a bold statement even for you Morris- considering we play in the west and have yet to muster a single win- considering what we played Vancouver and Calgary multiple times and they were considered the weaker opponents of the west... hell we were not even competition against the likes of Nashville whom we owned for years for crying out loud... |

I do think RK should have been given more time.
But the question was who do i rather. ..And as a rookie coach i like TN...he is in the system and knows the players - OilHorse
Movie over....10min break before I watch another movie....I mention that before as a advantage TN would had over Eakins but other fan's here think that was not a advantage, anyways if Eakins have this team by with a record of 12w and 28L by Game 42 then He should be fired, now the only good candidate outhere to be the next Coach is Balysma and if He gets hired I hope it's a combination of Balysma/Nelson/Messier. |

Next oilers Games, Boston (I can see the Future) Oil will Lose,Next game agains Buffalo (I can see the future)but I'm embarrasse to say the outcome next two games after that is Rangers and Nasville...Oilers record after those games well I can't be that optimistic as Morris but I will say it will be 4W-11L |

Nashville has been a pleasent surprise. Just shows that defensive systems no longer belong in the nhl. Vancity and Nashville are substantially better now that they have implemented offensive systems.
Not taking anything away from Trotz though. Guy did an outstanding job while he was in Tennessee.

what is it about bylsmas systems that he's employed in the past do you like exactly?
how do you think it'll mesh well with our group and which players will have to make adjustment
how do you think he can utilize our strengths on defence to improve?
what about his breakout and neutral zone strategies do u like so much that will change our fortunes so drastically?
as far as nelson, what about his system do u like? I don't think we can use "knows the kids" very much anymore, as Eakins has had them for longer than he did. so that's not really a valid argument at this spoint. its just kind of a blanket answer anyways.
and why messier? one of your go to regular posts was no rookie coachs. messier has zero experience in any regular capacity other than a tourney here and there. he hasn't eve coached any pro team through the rigours of a full season.
isn't this hypocritical? and u realize this would be adding more to the boys club. not less. don't u want mact and lowe out? |

but there's lots of coaches with nhl experience that could be had.
why him? this isn't nearly enough information to make a huge change and step in our fragile organization.
what is it about our system that's you see as a failure? what is it about his that you like?
whats his forecheck look like? is it more passive or aggressive and used towardsa dump and chase? if so, would this be conducive for our game since we've added some size?would this negate some of the skill our top line has? and if so, what kind of adjustments should we make that Eakins hasn't done?
what's bylsmas breakout look like? does he like to employ a skating defender to start his breakout like he had in letang, or do the forwards carry possession? which defenders would be getting the most ice time under his system? |
