What I'm saying is that they need one of those #1 defensemen, from somewhere. If they can get one of those and keep Myers at the same time (i.e. Ristolainen or even Zadorov becomes that player), that would be outstanding. If it takes moving Myers to get one, or they end up moving Myers for help (albeit significant help) somewhere else, I'm not going to lose much sleep either. - buffalofan19
I didn't get to watch any of the St. Louis game. Did Risto and Zadorov look good together? My hope for them is they esssentially turn into our version of Keith & Seabrook. |

Having a trio of Myers/Risto/Zads could be just as good as having one true franchise guy and a couple pretty good ones.
I don't think Duncan Keith is a prototypical franchise defensemen, but having Seabrook on his other side, and Hjalmarsson on a 2nd pair taking defensive responsibilities allows Keith to play his style.
Don't get me wrong, Keith is a great player and I'm not comparing the two. I just think that you need more than one guy to rely on in this era. |

Again . How can it hurt ? ? We are resigned to the fact we are finishing 30th . The play has been uninspiring to watch . Showcase him so you can trade him at the deadline for a 3rd or 4th, somebody will decide he might be good for their playoff run - Maximum Signal
Kaleta is a waste and doesn't need to be on this team, nobody will want him at the deadline he brings nothing to a team. |

I thought they looked okay all things considered. They definitely didn't stand out in a bad way, not to me anyway. |

And that ultimately might end up being the correct route to go. Still, the fact remains, whether it's one or both of Ristolainen or Zadorov, or somebody from elsewhere, they need a defenseman that ends up being "better" than Myers in a few areas. |

Isn't that an oxymoron of sorts? How can anyone be a waste on a team that is a waste of a team? |

The idea that Kaleta will bring anything at the deadline is about as laughable as the notion that Tallinder was going to last year. |

I think WGR said he was gonna be in for Gorges yesterday. I think I'd rather they recall any one of Pysyk, McCabe or Ruhwedel instead. |

Pysyk has to be wondering what the hell he has to do to a stick with this team. |

Play well in the AHL, which he currently isn't doing
I'd still play him over Benoit. |

Kaleta doesn't need to be on this team, we have McCormik and he's a better player. - SABRES 89
I think your personal bias may be slipping in to this one a bit. They're both basically worthless for points (as Sabres: McCormick 0.16 PPG, Kaleta 0.13) and Kaleta was always touted for his PK ability |

I detect some hatred at Kaleta here. Not sure.. just a hint of it....
Who cares. We are in Tank mode. Kaleta will not hurt their chances in winning or losing. If he hasn't learned and does something stupid, then his career is likely over and no one cares... other than Patty of course. |

If there was one thing Lindy Ruff was really, and I mean really, good at, it getting players to be good penalty killers. That is one thing that dropped off tremendously when he was fired. |

I think the bigger issue is the fact that a big reason the team is in the position it's in (big picture) is that it felt players like Kaleta were almost a necessity. The sooner this team rids itself of both that mentality and the players that represent that mentality, the better off it will be. |
