Ryan Garner: TWIRATOME: Oilers Eating Pacific Division's Dust - Ryan Garner
Two wins this week puts us on pace for the best Oilers season since 2008-2009.
Two losses puts us on pace for the worst season in Oilers history.
That should indicate how much hockey there is left to be played. For all intents and purposes, it would take a miracle turnaround to make the playoffs, but there's so much good that can be done for this team by getting as high in the standings and playing meaningful hockey for as long as possible. |

Oilers can you please start winning. We are doing our job. I want to see a meaningful games between the Flames and Oilers again.
However Toronto can continue to lose. |

I didn't expect the oilers to make the playoffs this year. But I expected them to be in a better position. Aim for 10th friends from the north! Baby steps. 10 points improvement per year is what you need to aim for. |

We need a left-shooting dman with a good shot. We need it so bad we play Nikitin while he bungles the puck. We need it so bad we gave Brad Hunt an NHL job.
Seeing Wideman (admittedly a right shot) bang in those tying and leading goals last night really solidifies that there's only one way to improve our dimensionality and our power play: We need a shot that opponents fear. Schultz doesn't have it. Niktin and Petry can't get it consistently on net. Ference can't be out on the PP. We need a point shot! |

So true. Fans trolling each other, insane trade speculation, and pictures of midgets riding ponies are the lifeblood of every blogger. |

To me, hanging in around 9th or 10th at the playoffs would be so so beneficial to this team. Making it through this next 20 games, our hardest stretch of the season, would be amazing.
If I'm Eakins, I tell the boys that this is the stretch of the season where the wheels fall off for some teams. We're 7 points out of 8th right now. If we even remain at that level over the next 20 games, we'll have moved up in the standings. If we better that, we'll be even more in striking distance. Then the road gets easier, and we can try to build some momentum as more teams fall off. |

Those goaltending stats are just depressing, again. Plus the fact we can't score any goals. |

Look at this derp:
http://thehockeywriters.c...must-trade-jordan-eberle/ - BigDre
This article is a mess, especially this:
What the Oilers have done over the past few seasons is the definition of insanity: icing relatively the same team year in and year out and expecting different results.
Oilers who are still on the team from pre-MacT:
Eberle, Hall, Nuge, Yakupov, Schultz, Petry, Marincin, Arcobello.
That's 8 players on a roster of 23. And since he helped bring in Schultz, I almost consider him more a MacT acquisition.
I love how he then slags Scrivens and Fasth as career backups, then suggests we trade Eberle for 2nd and 3rd string goalies. He seems to be indicating maybe it's part of a package deal, but then all the dmen he lists are from completely different teams!
Kinda like the way he scoffs at all the young talent and no one to guide them in Edmonton, then suggests we trade Eberle for a greener guy in Gardiner who "could still be extremely successful if he is given a fresh start in Edmonton."
I'd be interested in a deal surrounding Eberle and Seabrook/Josi though.
PS, if Gardiner is mentioned in the same breath as Seabrook and Josi, why wouldn't the leafs just trade Gardiner right now for that kind of return?

Not gonna get into pre/post MacT but yeh I didn't understand the suggestion of Gardiner. I don't see him as a top 2D in the NHL at any point.
The goalie suggestions weird as well. Yes Jake Allen gonna be a star but no way are the Blues trading him. Andersen...... who knows with him, still green in my book.
And the Detroit kid...... |

My favourite is Eberle for Mrazek who is playing BACKUP in the AHL. |
