106.5, and I have to say, they do pretty good at letting you know what's up when it comes to the weather and the streets.
I get what you're saying, but the problem is just that even on Tuesday when half the area had been dumped on, the people who lived in the areas that didn't get dumped on decided to go driving into the bad areas. They then got stuck and it was even more that the plows/road crews had to deal with. The amount of people that blatantly ignore travel bans is just appalling to me. If they're telling me that I'm not allowed to drive somewhere, I'm going to assume it's in my own best interest to listen to them and not go anywhere. (Not that I could at this point, I have 5ft of snow in the street still). - HonkFortheGoose
It's more of people trying to get home from work. Also those with small children home. I still say they goofed up and tried to cover it up to the governor. Last year they did it right and we didn't have this problem.

Yeah I know . A lot still try to get home when they don't have a vehicle to even have a chance (your rollerskate included) S.B. streets were not made to handle the amount of cars people have today. They were built for horses way back when. |

I'm watching the Canes game and they just got done talking about Skinner, how he has 101 goals now and "Easily more than half have been wrist shots" and they show one from the other night vs. Dallas.
A short time after that Gerbe helps spring Skinner to rush on a 2-on-1 with someone else (not sure who) and Skinner beats Quick to the far side with another beauty of a wrist shot.
It's a lost "art" in hockey now, too many offensive zone possessions always crap out on slapshot attempts. |

We have a three day week next week because of thanksgiving. I hope it clears up enough for people to get home. |

It should. It's supposed to warm up over the weekend and they're calling for rain. It won't be snowing, but we might need rowboats to get around instead. |

.....especially from the point....it seems for decades blueliners followed Zhitniks's lead of having one of the fastest slapshots in the league with zero accuracy. |

I was a mediocre skater, not the best stick handler and my endurance was horrid, I get sportmans asthma and terrible calf cramps that immobilized me for 15+ minutes. Im not tooting my own horn when I say my wrist shot alone could have gotten me into the pros and Ive always liked Skinner because of his wrister. Poor people cant afford to be hockey players |

Yes, not much frustrates me more than all these "shots" from the point. Most are right in the stomach of the goaltender, miss poorly, or blocked before coming close. Wrist shots snap off so much quicker and give the defensive team less time to react and would be much more effective, IMO. |

If I'm not mistaken, Pat Kane seems to use a wrister a lot as well. |

I haven't seen any of our young prospects to see how they play/shoot, but I hope we have some that are doing a lot of that. I think that would be a pretty awesome stat for these people to track. |

I've seen Grigs use a wrister before. I don't know if anyone else does regularly though. |

I'm convinced Thomas Vanek was incapable of taking a wrist shot. |

Even the director of this area admitted they closed it too soon. They should have had a designated exit ramp for all the vehicles. not let them sit there and wait for the snow to pile around them. Cuomo said everyone stuck was contacted in a timely manner . some were there 15 hrs before they ever seen anyone, He said everyone was given water and energy bars, over 10 that were checked on said BS they were never offered anything and didn't see anyone for another 6 hours. - cabin
This is the part people are missing. Even the authorities (except Cuomo, because he never screws up...ever) said we could have done this a lot better.
The point that folks should have stayed off the Thruway to begin with was well made. However, the fact of the matter is that there are going to be people on the Thruway both right before and during the storm, either by imprudence or necessity. It's the Thurway Authority's job to get them out in an orderly and timely manner. It's what we pay taxes for.
There was also an admitted decision to "wait out" the storm before getting the plows out, which also turned out to be a bad one. The fact of the matter is that both the public and the government screwed up here. |

Your right. Better communication is needed. I never heard the annoying emergency broadcast signal on the radio or tv at all . |
