How can one honestly ask if the players are tanking? For what? A guy that will come in and take one of their jobs? And it's not like the Leafs traded away top players.

This "tanking on purpose" theory has just got to stop.

I don't agree with it.

Anyone who says this (and not you, Michael, because you defended this organization in grand fashion a couple weeks ago), is just jealous that we may end up with the most talked about player in years. That's all that is.

I think to say the Leafs are tanking is far-fetched. Usually Garth loves to rip on the Leafs with non-sense and while I think Mike P's points about the Sabres are great - all of the other content is great about this blog, I vehemently disagree with the notion that the Leafs are tanking

The coach has lost the room and the Leafs just put forth a poop effort. No way management went to the players and told them to lose or are encouraging losing.

The Leafs have had plenty of opportunity to tank the past few years but never have. They would not start now.

They were bad - the players, the coaches, the effort, etc. Not tanking, but just bad.

I regret my comment "you've out-Garthed Garth on this one" because I find Garth to be delusional and a super-homer-fangirl and Mike P is definitely not like that. I just disagreed with his statements regarding the Leafs and tanking.

Doesnt matter the sport, every year there is always going to be at least one bad team, whether it's injurys, players aging or just a lack of talent someone has to finish at the bottom...And if your team is at the bottom of a strong draft year (Lebron andrew luck McEichel..) tanking just goes hand and hand with your place in the standings.

Unless you bench your star players there's no difference between a bad team and what the media defines tanking.

I think Carlyle is gone by the end of the week. Gardiner/Phaneuf traded and maybe Lupul if he is healthy. Get some changes, and try to spark something before it is too late.
