As much as I think the Devils need Andy Greene, with the young guys we have, I wouldn't mind trading him for Weal and Shore. |

Tyler Myers traded to the Kings for Jordan Nolan and a 1st. Kings trade Tyler Myers back to Sabres for Zadorov and Sam Reinhart.

With a pace of around 20 points and 5-6 goals, Stoll is becoming less and less of an asset on the ice. He still does well in the faceoff circle along with being an excellent penalty killer, but along with Mike Richards he is making a lot of money to do what he is doing. - Jason_Lewis
With Dave Bolland recently signing a $5/year contract as a successful 3rd line center, I don't think that $3¼ million can be considered "a lot of money" any more. Honestly, I think $3¼ mil is a pretty good deal for a player that "does well in the faceoff circle [and is] an excellent penalty killer." In addition, you can say what you want about his results, he is the hardest working player on the ice every shift.
Sure, he takes too many dumb stick fouls in the offensive zone, and on the offensively anemic Kings, he's not going to put up a ton of points. I think the Kings have become satisfied with having a 25th ranked offense. They have finished near the basement in 2 of the last 3 seasons, and in both of those seasons, they have gone on to win the Stanley Cup. So the fact that their 3rd line center only nets ~10g/season isn't that big of a deal.
That being said, he's going to be a UFA this summer, so any return that he will fetch will be as a 3rd line rental (i.e. not much). Unless for some awful reason the Kings aren't in the playoff hunt come the trade deadline, I don't think DL would be willing to dump the value that Stoll provides for little to no return. The only way that I can see him going anywhere if there is some blockbuster trade to be had where throwing Stoll in as an "extra" would seal the deal.
However, before July 1st of next year, I do think the Kings have to either move one of Richards or Stoll, or decide to move Carter back to the wing. They simply can't have their 4 centers accounting for 1/3 of their payroll, especially with several players due fairly substantial pay raises. If they can fit Carter back on a line with Richards, then they could make it work, but then they'd have to unload one of Brown, Williams, Toffoli, or Pearson (I would have also included King, but his cap hit next season won't be high enough to offset keeping Stoll and Richards).
I think that at least one of Richards, Stoll, Williams, Brown, Toffoli, and/or Pearson will not be wearing a Kings jersey next October.

Solid comment.
I agree wholeheartedly with the bolded portion. The Kings are going to be in a transitional mode after this season. They have several decisions to make regarding pending UFAs and RFAs. Regehr, Williams, Stoll will all be up, and as you said Richards will again have to be re-valuated for his worth. Not only are there significant RFA's like Pearson and Toffoli on the docket, we can't forget the potential behemoth extension that is coming the way of No. 11 after next year. The days of the 6.8 bargain are going to be history, and that money has to come from somewhere. |

Agree on pretty much all points... Your last two paragraphs seem like fact at this point. The writing is on the wall with the knowledge that Kopitar, Toffoli and Pearson are all due for a significant raise. |

If the kings keep playing the way they are playing now, they will not be in the same position in the standings that they are now. other teams will blow by them.
Nolan could easily go, Andreoff as well, throw Stoll in the mix, and they might be able to make up for having to keep Richards.
to sit back and say everything is going to be alright is just dumb, the team is not playing well and the list of reasons why is getting longer, not shorter. |

I remember comments exactly like this in February 2012 and 2014. In 2012, we traded away Jack Johnson and in 2014, we traded away no one. Both years, we went on to win the Stanley Cup. The Kings don't need to trade anyone in order to do well this season. They might need to trade someone in the offseason in order to solve some Cap issues, but that has nothing to do with current on-ice performance.
The Kings have been and are currently a very streaky team. They will go on cold streaks where it seems like the sky is falling, then on hot streaks where they make the best teams in the league look like AHL teams. They are in the middle of a mild cold streak (They're 5-3-2 in their last 10 games...hardly catastrophic). As they have demonstrated so effectively in the past, the Kings don't need to finish at the top of their conference to go far in the playoffs. They can sneak in with a Wild Card spot if necessary and still take out all opposition.
Sorry, but history does not support your comments. |

Weal....there's a possibility he moves on in the future ala Kozun. But Shore? The kid is a stud. His original projections had him as a good top 9 center but he has taken such huge strides these past 6 months. Taking it to another level. |
