Eventually bounces go the wrong way. They're hopped up on confidence, the slightest mishap could swing things the other way.

But it's nice to see the young guys step up, makes me feel good about our future.

I would rather they get the 10th pick and a handful of players take their game to the next level moving forward then the 4th pick with no change from last season

the sabres are only 3 points behind the stars and av's (same amount of games played)
6 behind the rangers
7 behind the wild
9 behind the b's (sabres have a game in hand)

all after a brutal start

I'd rather neither tbh. If we get the 4th pick, we will get a great player but ultimately the talk will always be around how we were just a few losses shy of a generational talent player.

If we get the 10th pick, yes players have taken the next step but since none of our current prospects our touted as franchise players we basically end up with a better version of the mediocrity that was our last core.

Also as a side note what makes it even worse is that they're playing some of the most boring hockey i have seen in a long time, like almost pre lockout minnesota wild boring.

I'd rather they consistenly lose games 4-3 then win games 2-1 in the shootout because they lulled the other team to sleep.

I hear ya man. We absolutely need one of the guys at the top. Its so crucial. We need a stud on offense bottom line. Reinhart, Armia, Grigorenko, ect. are likely going to be good players but in my opinion they are complementary pieces. Im not 100% sold on any of them to be honest

Agreed. We have been down this road with both teams before. Finish the season in 5-10 place. Miss out on the top talent, and get the guys that are good, but not great.

Nothing has changed. This is really going to sting years down the road when a team like Philly or carolina end up with a superstar and we are sitting there wondering what if

Here is my opinion on the Sabres this year. They still aren't good.
This team reminds me of the Sabres team Nolan took over the first time. Not a good team but some good developing players and Hasek. So far this season, the goaltending has been good to Great. Nolan is giving players like Flynn and Mitchell playing time and they are doing the work needed to succeed. They are now playing well in their own end. Shots tend to be from outside and many are blocked. They score on chances they worked for or get lucky on but don't get many of either per game.

If I am GMTM, I stay the course. No trades unless blown away by the offer. INJURIES will be coming. A top 2 pick is my wish but, if i get a top 5 and one in the teens and 20's, deal some players and picks, get me 2 in the top 5 to 10. Superstars are great, rolling 4 lines is better in the NHL.

I'm of the same opinion.

Bufffan19 and I thought of this a while back but as nationalistic and borderline racist as it sounds I've been using the criteria of "could player x ever make team canada's core((frank) kunitz) if he were canadian?"

If you look at that team's core, everyone of them were considered a franchise player not just by their teams respective fans but league wide. So far I don't see anyone in our organization who would ever have a shot at that, but the top 2 guys in this draft definitely would.

You make it sound like this is so easy to do. Its not. it doesnt happen in a deep draft like this. The ises and blues picks are going to be low. There is no chance we move back anywhere close to the top 5

I admit it's fun not being at the butt end of every nhl joke on twitter and other media, but it's this sort of short term crap that keeps us from achieving long term success.

The only way you get a top 3 pick in this draft is to finish there. You are not trading for one.
