Agreed. This is why I didnt love the reinhart pick. You can tell he will be good but there are alot of teams with good players like him. - MCGUIZZY
what did you want with that pick then? trade it for players? or draft some other boom or bust player? |

It isn't all about one guy though.
IMO, if we were to land McDavid, you could etch the Sabres name into the cup with the date TBD. Because him plus our youth would be ridiculous.
Although it's not an end all be all. We still potentially have 3 really good centers
Every year wingers like Bobby Ryan or James Neal are moved.
Maybe this year we can land a Jeff Skinner or Evander Kane
I don't think we are screwed without McEichel - sbroads24
dont say things like that |

No. In fact I dont really have another alternative. It is what it is. It was a weak draft and unfortunately it may have been our only shot at a top 2 pick. |

I don't think we'd be screwed either, but like i said before we're going to be 27th place bad we might as well be 30th place bad.
There's less what if's if you land a guy like McDavid/Eichel. He'll make everyone around him better. Without him, a lot of things will have to go right with the current group and trades. Not saying it's impossible but I like the odds of one better than the other. |

alright. i was just curious if you had other thoughts on what to do.. It does suck that the draft was as weak as it was though |

Honestly, I am ok with the Sabres only using one of their first 5 picks to draft someone this year.
The only crappy part is picks 3-5 are very d heavy. Teams would pay a good price for that.
I guess depending on the finish if they trade all of them away I am ok with it. |

Unless someone makes a crazy overpayment, I'd just take one of the defensemen. It's not a #1 centre, but they both have franchise potential and it would give us some kind of D-core. |

If the Sabres finish with 4 or5. I offer that pick straight up for one of Hall/RNH.
It allows Edm to draft a top d-man and it gets Buffalo a top line forward they need.
This is where EDM fans tell me they dont need defense - ImThatGuy[/quote
I think this is where they tell you to look at the draft rankings...outside Hannifan, the Droid waits for several picks
