Hope Jagr is ok. That would be a real poopty way, and terrible reason, to end his career.
The league has outsourced its justice system to the players for decades, it doesn’t work.
Well, since there aren't really any enforcers any more, and since the league apparently doesn't do enough to protects its players, the problem is even worse than imagined. |

Ryan Wilson: Bortuzzo's Dirty Hit Deserves Suspension
Bortuzzo's Dirty Hit Deserves Suspension - Ryan_Wilson
Nah. There was no hearing on boychuck Bcs it wasn't warranted. Keep beating that drum though Ryan . If that hit was suspend able there should have been three penguins suspended right along with him that game. Surprised Mario would have a player that would make such a dirty hit on his team of angels? |

First time I've ever read/seen a Penguins booster say that Sydney Crosby should be treated the same as everyone else. I agree with DeBoer here. There's a bad double standard. Look at the way Crosby cheats on faceoffs.
I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you on Bortuzzo though. I've been watching him in WBS for a significant period of time and he's no NHLer. That's why he's desperately seeking well-known players like Jagr to attack. Needs to make himself known. |

Hit was a lil' late.
If Jagr had been rightly penalized for his post-whistle stickwork during the previous sequence, the destruction wouldn't have happened.
Borts will get a game and it'll be over. He's press box bound next game anyway.
Jagr will always be a jagoff. |

That's some biased hate right there. It was a late hit and came high. Can't believe you're painting Jagr as the villain and promoting frontier justice. I thought you guys liked skill and clean play as opposed to settling things the refs won't. |

Again, as DeBoer said, imagine that hit against Crosby...

I don't have a problem with the hit to this extent. I think it will warrant a fine and that is about all. Drives through center mass and doesn't extend an arm or elbow. A bit late but that's why he will be fined. Not much different, in my opinion, than the Phaneuf hit on Hornqvist you didn't have a problem with. Just a little bit later. |

I see you've fallen for the charade like a lot of others. You should know by now it's ok when the pens do it. The only reason this guy wrote this blog as an out cry against one of their own was because of the incessant crying that went on here over a nothing hit last time we played them. |

I don't think the hit was late at all. Jagr passes the puck about a foot above the goal line, and glides about 5 feet before Bortuzzo hits him. On the slow motion replay, I can count to one after the puck leaves Jagr's stick, and then the Bortuzzo hit. In real speed, that all happens in about half a second. If Jagr was along the boards, and Bortuzzo hit him after the same amount of time after the pass, it would be considered finishing his check.
After watching several more replays, I have changed my mind though that the hit was high. I have yet to see a more zoomed in replay so it is hard to tell. Watching the game and replays last night, I thought he made contact shoulder to chest. Watching several more times this morning, I think Bortuzzo gets his chest as well as up under his chin.
He'll likely get 2 games for the hit. |

Funny how many fans think their own players are always in the right , never do anything wrong. Btw it WAS a bad hit by Bortz and he SHOULD be suspended, but Ryan is right the league is a joke when it comes to discipline. |

"The league still uses injury as their number one variable in how they assess punishment"
My biggest complaint for years now. its ridiculous to officiate by the outcome rather than the intent. I even hate the 2 extra mins for drawing blood. you get 2 more for being a bleeder. fantastic |

Why do fans of other teams immediately go to the "imagine if it was Crosby" crap? Can't we have a discussion based on a hit on its own? |

I like the automatic slashing call is a stick breaks rule, too. The league is apparently not aware of how fatigue works. |

It would be so bad that you would automatically skip WW3. |
