Dallas is the biggest disappointment. I thought for sure this team would be a force in the west with the players they have up front but I guess I didn't really look at the D and I didn't think Lehtonen or Lindback were that bad... not sure what's going on.

Washington too, is a big dissapointment. They spent a boat load this off season for Nistkanen and Orpik and they are still struggling in the East.

CBJ is not really a disappoinment because I'm sure with a healthy team they would be right up there in the East. Just bad luck.

Edmonton is in familiar territory for the last few years. They made some changes but nothing that would push them to compete in the West. I knew they were not a playoff team from beginning of the season but to be honesy, I didn't think it would be this bad. I feel bad for the fans that have to put up with managements stupidity.
Also, not to be a troll but I would reaaallly hate to see the Oilers pick top 5 again. This is getting out of hand... it's like rewarding a team the best player available this year because your management is not smart enought to put a contending team together for the last 6 years.

Oilers are by far the biggest disappointment

I thought we'd still be competing now for a spot, I did not however think that they'd finish in a playoff spot. Maybe a 10th place finish I predicted. But it's a combination of so many things:

- snake bitten players - Yak, Perron, Eberle
- Playing Schultz the most out of any dman - beyond stupid
- Not acquiring a centre after openly admitting we have 2 NHL centres - this ones on you Craig. Said from the start to send Leon back after 9 games. He doesn't need to be part of this mess. I don't care how hard it is to acquire a centre, you are being paid 7 figures to do it.
- goalies not making saves - granted we give up some grade A chances but Scrivens cost us a few games by basically gift wrapping a pass to the opposition.

It takes something special to stink as much as the Oilers do.

Oilers are only a Dissapointment because we as fans put expectations on them . They fooled us again, and they'll get us again next year no matter who insert into the line up. The rotten core of Hall, Ebs and Schultz and their poopy diapers will never be a part of a successful group together.

Are you saying each or all three together?

Biggest disappointment - California - It is already December and no one from that state has won the cup yet.

Actually, I am surprised that San Jose has't been talked about. I thought I was the only one in the preseason suggesting that they would be out of the playoffs.

I didn't get a chance to send in my disappointments, but French nailed it with Minnesota. With Vanek, Nieteredder (?) Parise, and a great D, they should be a top team. My other great disappointment is the Leafs because good record or not, everyone in the world knows Randy Carlyle is pre-fired and the team continues to play vets like Bozak over Kadri and Holland despite having no hope in hell of winning the Stanley Cup with their current roster. For a team like Toronto to have their main goal be just making the playoffs is, to me, pathetic.

I am also disappointing by the lack of trades and/or firings. Like, just how bad to the Oilers have to be to get someone fired? And the Coyotes, when they aren't bullying they Oilers, have almost as bad of a record.

What I am not disappointing in is the fans stuffing the ballot box for whatever that kid from Buffalo is called who's name I am not even going to attempt to spell. The Allstar Game is a joke and treating it like one is the kind of subversive action I can get behind. In fact, I think we should all be stuffing the boxes full of Sabres only ballots.

Note: it just took me less than 3 minutes to go vote for the Sabres with the 7 most hilarious names, 9 Times.

Interesting comments by Todd White on TSN1200 radio at noon on edmonton:
(what he said in my own words)

Calls Perron's goal a beauty from last night. Then asked if the Oilers should do anything he said what are you going to gain? Unless it's for bringing in things positive for the future why would you? Says its tough for fans. But that's the best thing for the team.

also thinks Russian born players benefit from playing in the AHL. He asks how can your players develop chasing the puck? He says sending someone down can really benefit their long term progress (he didn't really come out and say it, I don't know why, but that's what he said)

Minnesota? They are 14-9-1! It's still early in the season. I still think more will come out of this team but to be honest, I'm not surprised with Vanek's lack of goals.

My other great disappointment is the Leafs because good record or not, everyone in the world knows Randy Carlyle is pre-fired
So they are disappointing because they are winning with Randy?
If they choke this year Randy is gone. Shanahan will try to get Babcock in the summer but if it doesn't work, they still have to option NOT to go with Carlyles option year.

continues to play vets like Bozak over Kadri and Holland

Why wouldn't you??? Bozak is a 28yr old centre going into his prime leading the team in faceoffs, ,shorties and is 2nd in points and goals on the team. Kadri is still discovering his game (playing great lately though) and Holland hasn't even played a full season in the NHL so I'm not sure what your point is.

For a team like Toronto to have their main goal be just making the playoffs is, to me, pathetic.

In the regular season what is the common goal ALL 30 teams have?
So you think once they make the playoffs they will fold... "that's it boys we made it lets call it a season!"

They are obviously going to compete!

I do agree with the All Star ballots... that is stupid.

I had the same feeling about them. They had a disaster of an off-season with all of that drama and it's coming back to bite them in the ass now. They at least used to be a damn good regular season team but even that's gone now.

Don't see why an underdog 20 year old leading in All-Star votes is a huge disappointment... I may be a bit biased, but hey, a Sabres fan needs something to smile about once in a while, right?
