The oilers are just a tire fire - SJSharks39
Lots of black smoke. Are you saying they are the cause of global warming?

And how did that work out? I think people ought to cut the Oilers a bit of break, because it might take a while, but this will be a good team.
I seem to remember Colorado was the best team in hockey (or one of them) for like a decade. - James_Tanner

if edmonton doesnt make player moves they are crazy
the time has come and gone; its passed due.
when you are last season after season, honest question...is it even possible to 'lose' a trade?
If I were GM of any team id be at least inquiring. |

That's kind of what I was thinking. I was also thinking about how I have been called an idiot over 3000 times on the internet and never once in my real life. Not once. Been called arrogant, know-it-all, jerk, f-face, d-head, d-bag, and like six million other things, but never an idiot. Not even once. - James_Tanner

Crazy Habs-centric trade proposal: DD, Eller, Emelin, andrghetto, Fucale for Hall and Perron. Take it and go *russel peters style* |

Finishing at the bottom was the worst thing for them
They had no choice but to pick the BPA
Which is the right choice .... But when you do that instead of drafting out if need you have to be prepared to trade the asset for a need or else the asset really doesn't hafe the value that you perceive |

they have a dynasty of 1st overalls .. may go unmatched for generations - nightmare3020
it would be interesting if (and when) the Oilers draft #1 again... McDavid holds out ala Lindros....
maybe then the Oilers will get sufficent roster turn-over to change the "culture"
honestly... I feel sorry for those kids - particularly Hall. Dreger has clearly lost his mind. That kid has hung it all out there for a few years now... with little or no support. He's the only one I would consider untouchable. |

No the whole thing is really too bizarre for words. - James_Tanner
in a signal of team unity and protest - perhaps the Oiler's players should
1) refuse to play tonight with MacTavish behind the bench
2) send a message to Katz to fire the entire management team
it really is quite strange... Gretzky wasn't very impressive in many ways in Phoenix... and the other Oiler greats haven't exactly repeated their on-ice success while in management.
Perhaps - just perhaps - its time to move on from that "80's show".
Actually... I think making Glenn Healy the GM with Dreger as assistant along with Damian Cox would be perfect.

nor do i think you are one... but as a Flames fan if I had an entire blog dedicated to "the other team" I'd more or less ask what I did. Its kind of like going on a date with your girlfriend and spend the night talking about your ex... - geta02it
I defend it thusly:
There is no one in the world who writes more about the Coyotes than I do. I know this because I read every blog site dedicated to them, as well as all their mainstream media coverage.
I write about the Coyotes every single day, I think I've missed three days since September and maybe ten during the summer. Today I wrote about the biggest news story in the NHL and the team the Coyotes are playing.
I can't even believe this is an issue.

It's true that they did, but if they had dressed a line-up of Nolan- Lindros - Anyone
and Sundin - Sakic - -Anyone they probably would have won even more Cups. I mean, can you image a team with Sundin, Sakic and Lindros? That is insane.

I like your management dream team. In this scenario, perhaps Steve Simmons could head up the analytics department and I could do PR?

Thanks. I always find it doubly amusing that whether here or on Twitter, I am using my real name while all my detractors are anonymous.
However, let's not be crazy, I deserve a lot of the things said to me. But I publish daily and don't have an editor, I am sure I could sound a lot more intelligent if I wasn't always just writing the first thing that popped into my head. But, that would be boring. |

Bandwagon. There seems to be allot of bloggers piling on the Oil. Personally I don't give a poop what you write on. Was a simple question...
I read your stuff regularly. I have some business interests with a member of the Yotes ownership, not a friend but an associate and as such I have interest in the team...
and btw, I actually do like your blogs... (mostly) |

That's insane how huge the Lindros trade ends up after its all said and done
The one thing I will say is back then with no cap you can trade picks and prosorcts away and he just fine
GMs back than just needed to be ballsy
