WOOOOOOOO! Mother (frank)ing David perron!!!! (frank) yes!!! As much as I liked klink, he wasn't necessary with a healthy team. I'm so psyched

So we basically traded Samuelson and a First. Who was it that said Samuelson and a draft pick wouldn't get anyone? Step forward now! I demand your tears!

Giving up the 1st does not bother me at all given the amount of d prospects this team has and IF perron could be signed next year to an extension.

Your issue last year was a bad 4th line. That still seems to be an issue. Obviously this trade is a win in every way imaginable but there's more work to be done.

Spaling - Goc - Rust is light years ahead of Glass - Goc - Adams.

Stilll not ideal but it's way better. Our third line is also improved from last year with comeau and downie.

If somehow we can get dupuis back for the playoffs we could have a third line of:
Dupuis - Sutter - Comeau

and a fourth line of:
Spaling - Goc - Downie.

That's pretty damn good.

I think that's one of the biggest things. Perron is only 26, and if he can be signed to an extension, he gives you that top 6 winger for the next few years that a late 1st round pick would have probably been. If they can extend Perron, your long term top 6 is Crosby, Malkin, Hornqvist, and Perron, who are all under 30. This doesn't include the older guys in Kunitz and Dupuis, or Kapanen.

One thing not mentioned is Perron's physical game. He has 74 hits this season, which would put him 4th in hits on the Penguins.

Exactly. The pens should also have plenty of cap room given that the cap should be up quite a bit by the beginning of the 2016 season

Bennett too. (I know, I know. Lol, maybe he'll stay healthy one of these years)

Edit/addition- the one plus of Bennett's injury history too is that this year is his RFA year and he has next to zero leverage. I'd say a bridge 2 year -1.5-2mill per deal is likely. Which would be a bargain should he stay healthy and play like he can.
