Maatta being done for the year is big. Never root to see anyone get hurt (save for syphilitic human stool samples like Cooke) but that's a big cog in their defense that's done for the season. Good for the Islanders.

And Dupuis, too. Maatta is a sick player, he is a big loss, no doubt.
I know they picked up Perron, but Dupuis was basically knocking it out of the park before his condition popped up.

If Viz is healthy, he will play and Strait will sit. But it really looks like Dono will remain the odd man out unless there is another injury. Dono didn't play good at all the other night and was benched. I don't know what Cappy expects though; the poor guy never plays.

Strait has been playing better though. He looks more like he did the first season we got him over his past few games. He still is a huge down grade from Viz but if he keeps it up, he is a decent 7th defenseman.

without a doubt with Viz playing Strait sits...just saying I there is a need he will be in the line up.

TOP of the Eastern Conference at midpoint of the Season. It was worth the Rebuild. Party on Garth. Im so glad we stuck with it.

As promised, Rag fans silences. that's now 2 big butt whippings at MSG. Welcome back to reality.

Howie Rose is annoying - Hopefully he stops bring up blown 3-0 leads.
Also to answer his question to why Rags looked slow last night. - Its b/c the islanders are so much faster.

Just asking, but u rather listen to Butchie than Rose? Regardless of his fanhood, Rose is a much, much, much better announcer.......

Good game last night, gents. Hell of a team you have this year. One very deserving of being at the top of the Conference, and you guys certainly deserve a winner.

Looking forward to the next one.

Alright, go frank yourself. Why don't you win a damn playoff series before spouting off.

Thanks. The Rangers have been on a hell of a roll! I'm glad the Isles were able to control the flow last night.

was probably one of the best displays of the forwards backchecking that we've had this season. Those posts in the first could have made it a different game.

While he didn't really do a whole lot in the Rangers zone, Bailey had an excellent defensive game.

I actually don't place too much emphasis on the posts in the first. The Rangers got throttled last night. Even if one of those shots goes in, I think the Islanders would have eventually overcome the deficit. The Rangers were skating in quick sand all last night, and the Islanders just took it to them. Indeed, it could have been worse.

I agree. Bailey was impressive on D. That is how you win games with the forwards buying into the D game.

if bailey plays like that for the rest of the year and doesn't score more than 30 points then I'm perfectly happy with his play. That kind of hustle and defense is very valuable.

He did, no question. However a few of those defensive plays were because he turned the puck over in the offensive zone. I give him credit for getting back to make up for the mistake, but I'd rather keep control of the puck.

FYI, Staple is answering questions on twitter and I asked him about the chances of Lubo being back next year and this was his response:

"Think they'll talk if Lubo wants to play another year, but I don't see it myself"

I have to say that was the best I have ever seen Bailey. If he plays like that every single game he will be amazing. Grabner was also in beast mode as well.

As a whole the team played great despite some defensive mistakes by Strait. I honestly feel the Islanders are a better team all around. This team has shown this year when we lose a couple of games they come back and shock the world.

Also I gained a little respect for Jack last night as well. His team was ready to play and they played hard.

Now the Pens and Montreal are up to bat and I feel they can beat anyone. Just hope they did not use all their energy for this one game
