Yes next year not this year - Vukota
If we sign Boychuk I'm stoked for next year likely adding Reinhart and pulock and saying goodbye to Strait, Donovan and visnovsky will likely retire or go elsewhere. Hickey Reinhart and pulock will have to fight it out to see who sits as the 7th defenseman. That's a heck of a good, young defense. |

Let the record state not all Islander fans believe that nor do any of us think we are cup favorites! - Cptmjl
Honestly we have to be in the top 3 in the east. TB, Pitt, and Isles top tier. Then it's Mont, Wash, and Smurfs in second tier. I don't see a team from the east that has a good chance of beating us in a 7 game series right now if Halak is on and we're healthy. They play a sound defensive game with the forwards really back checking, they have scoring depth throughout the lineup, and a very good fourth line that is so important in the playoffs. We have forward and defensive depth incase of injuries. We have a roster of mostly players that made the playoffs before including 2 winners. We have size and a ton of speed. Everyone knows their role and is playing well.
We will see if teams can do some scouting and figure out how to beat cappys system. But it is working and I don't think you can out skill or work this team when they're on. |

I want Viz back pretty bad. It would most likely be a one year deal so no risk. Viz is such a good skater and he is underrated in both zones I think. He does get out muscled once in a while, however is real reliable and a veteran which is something we lack. |

The problem is Vish coming in and out of the lineup constantly. I'd take my chances without him. |

if boychuk signs I'd be fine with letting visnovsky walk and have reinhart and pulock alternate taking his place. If he doesn't, then we have a new set of problems, but I'd have to think reinhart or pulock could play bottom pairing minutes next season.

So we have a vet around the club and playing 40 games. That works so now we can give Reinhart and Pulock a shot when he gets hurt. It's a one year deal there is no risk. If anything he is rookie insurance. |

Boychuck and Leddy would be the vets. I think Pulock or Reinhart need to be playing from game 1 next year. Vish seriously needs to think if he wants to keep playing with all his injuries. |

as critical as I usually am, I can't find any fault with the coaching staff. The team usually plays hard, they are playing great defensively for the most part, the line combos are a bit goofy but we're still winning. The team is 16 games over NHL 500 and the pk is improving.
at the moment my only real concern is Johnson, but he looked at least reasonably solid in the win against columbus.
Right now the team is clicking and looking good. I'm still annoyed with the lack of effort and carelessness with the puck in Vancouver, but that's on the players, not the coaching staff.

what fault at the moment can you find with the coaching staff? point it out.
I can't stand capuano, but at the moment they appear to have the team going in the right direction and the pk is improving. |

"at the moment" is my issue...i still think they win in spite of cappy.
still isnt matching lines, still isnt calling time outs when necessary and still isnt good at adjusting in-game.
im not concerned about "at the moment", im talking on a broader scale. after the oilers/canucks EVERYONE found fault with the coaching staff. are we really formulating new opinions on people after every single game?? talk about a swinging pendulum |

He still makes some bone headed moves an example is his match ups or lack there of but when the team is winning its hard to go nuts over it but nothing has changed he still does stupid shat. When they lose a couple ill start beating that dead horse again. |

Actually, against the oilers and the canucks I had a way bigger issue with the effort of the players than I did with the coaching staff.
I am not a fan of Capuano and thought he should have been fired last year, but through 43 games, we’re 29-13-1. I would much rather see Crawford coaching this team, but no coach is getting fired when you’re 1st in the conference. Does he frustrate me a heck of a lot? Yes, he does. If you’re going to blame him for the effort level of the players when we suck (edm/van) you have to give him credit when we dominate (cbj/nyr)
Can I nitpick at Capuano right now? Sure I could, but I’m not going to. The team showed up and played a very important game at a very high level.

Cappy's system works. Period. We win because Cappy's system is good, the players bought into it and he has us playing great team defense and winning. He is learning you cant back off with a three goal lead (hopefully that wasn't a fluke). Time-outs is minuscule honestly. Line matching is a worry for me about the playoffs but honestly he has a young team playing up to its potential. I think how well a coach's strategy utilizes a team's skill is what makes them a good or bad, or for a skilled team good or great. |

i view capuano the same way i view a bird taking a poop on my windshield. it really sucks and certainly does not make my car look any nicer but despite the poop, the engine still works and wont stop me from driving it.
Edit: im not nitpicking, im answer YOUR question. i didnt bring up cappy but if someone asks me about him, i still dont like him...my perspective of the guy is based on more than what last nights boxscore says. |

They are not going to scratch a rookie.. The one that doesn't make the team will be in bport |

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Hickey as the healthy scratch if both Reinhart and Pulock are ready |
