Hartnell also has 18 assists. Everyone knew the Flyers were giving up the better player, including Hextall. - MJL
I agree Hartnell is the better player. Just saying if the overall goal total stays that close that trade looks better. Umberger is adding to the secondary scoring which the Flyers need help with. The first line will score with or without Hartnell. |

I think that if they can get rid of a couple of D contracts, maybe Schultz and MDZ can be signed on the cheap again next year as placeholders for the kids in the system.
Let's face it, next year isn't looking like some great turnaround, and these guys aren't the biggest liabilities the team could be carrying. - tangent_man
I like that idea a lot. I've been very happy with the play of both of these guys. I think the fact that they haven't sucked on a team full of the suckiest sucks that ever sucked means that they are good at dealing with adversity. With the uncertainty of the quality of next year's team, I'd like to see that kind of perseverance continue. |

I don't really see them getting value for anyone that they might make available. It could very well be a quiet deadline day for Hexy if he doesn't get the offers he's looking for. - tangent_man
True, though you keep hearing from both Bill and Ek that "hockey" guys like Grossmann. If that's the case, perhaps they can package him with their 4th and move him to a contender for a 2nd.

No, your calling me a jack ass while trying to figure out away to say your not. I'm not being short sited. The signing are safe but do nothing down the road. The drafting is good but we have to wait and see how they pan out. Even Bobby Clarke got lucky with Claude Giroux. Can we speak on how well Hextall has traded when putting drafting and signings aside?
I think you are overreacting like a jack ass to my posts and yes, I am calling you a jack ass. - SuperSchennBros
I hate playing this game but I'm going to make an exception here...design a trade that you'd like to see happen. Caveat - it must work within cap restrictions, and it must be realistic (so Lecavalier for Crosby won't count).

Am I the only one who wants to keep MDZ? I think he's been fun to watch and could be a lot more effective when this team has other talented pieces for him to play with. - ThirdEye
They should keep him, IMO.
Unless somebody wants to give them a top-40 pick... then adios. |

They might, I'm just saying I wouldn't count on the injury to Carle, causing the Lightining to get desperate, and take on a player with term. - MJL
And I don't know if they would. I would just look at playoff teams that think they have a legit chance. they might be more desperate to deal. LA might want D. Same with Anaheim. You might get more from those type team. |

No, I want to keep him also. Flyers hold the leverage on him. When he's on his game, he's a prety good player. |

Some do it with reason and tact, though. As someone who likes to discuss facts and use reason and logic while dismissing rants, I thought you'd notice the difference. |

I get that and agree. I expect more to happen at the draft and even next year's TDL.
I do agree some guys who people want to see dealt are unlikely to have value, there's a few guys that can probably be turned into decent picks and/or prospects - Jsaquella
I'd really like to see some moves made at the deadline, particularly if it will net us a couple more picks in this draft. Its probably unrealistic to expect a high first round pick for this years draft, but even a 2nd this year would be nice (since we don't have our own).
If Edmonton really wants Coburn I would love to see him moved for their 1st in 2016 or 2017 (i have faith they'll still be bad). This is possibly unrealistic, perhaps their 2nd this year and next year? (assuming they still have those)
To address your point about moving guys who don't have much in the way of value: If Hexy can move a bad contract without taking another in return, then that in itself may be beneficial, even if the assets coming back are negligible.

You said he made one move, the entire board proved you wrong. You changed your argument as a result and got your feeling hurt in the process. Its a daily occurrence with you.
- MBFlyerfan
I wouldn't make the mistake of pretending you know how I feel. I didn't consider the signings as a move. At least not ones of real substance. Since they did bring the signings as moves to my attention, I pointed out that they hold no value towards the future, nor are they game changers. We went into the offseason looking like a playoff team, we came out worse. The draft has nothing to do with the Flyers today. |

Interesting article on Hagg with some praise for him from Murray.

I'm glad they are letting him develop in LHV rather than throwing him in the deep end tonight against the Pens. - Feanor

I have liked Del Zotto signing. I could go either way. Good offer you move him. No good offer keep him moving forward. I liked the way he responded yesterday to some of the physical play. I would like it more if maybe MacDonald was moved. I think del zotto could fill his role. I know some might disagree but I just don't love MacDonald. And love him less that Staal is signed for less then what MacDonald makes. - J35Bacher
MDZ is young an still a RFA. I think he's solid and capable of being a good player. He's been really solid the last few games, and I think he's worth keeping.
Now, if somebody offers a 1st rounder and a top prospect, adios.
Andrew MacDonald would be fine if he was on a 3 year deal, as the 4th or 5th defenseman, making between $2mm-$3mm and playing behind a legitimate top pair. |

The Penguins are in a bit of a slump but Crosby has 4 goals and 13 points in his last 7 games which means the Flyers are screwed. |

I'd keep him as well. He's still young, playing well all things considered, and can probably be had on the cheap again for a few years in a bridge-type contract. |
