I actually want to see Manning to get more then just a couple of games with the big club. He has been the best d man for the phatoms for a little bit now. I've seen good things out of him sometimes just give the kid a chance to see what he can do for 20 games and evaluate him after that. People probably disagree with me. I like his edgy play along with him getting the puck to the net. Our d is very bad and he is on a one year deal this is probably his last chance to stay with the organization. Hope he does well. Flyers offense needs more speed and someone who can purely put the puck in the net. We also need players who can hit more( or at least hit harder). We have big bodies who don't play like they have big bodies. We all know our d is horrible no need to get into that. We just have to live with our goalie situation right now with mason hurt. Hopefully a good draft and hopefully some cap dump can help this team. Couple of the right moves could help because I don't believe this team is that far off bring a good team. - steveromanowski
I am excited to see Manning and the Great Dane play tonight. And to see if Couts can piss off Malkin. |

Well I do not think it is a players problem in the sense that trades need to be done now.
I am far more worried about being consistent in play every night and line-up.
Only 2 players are missing from last year ( Timmonen and Hartnell ) and maybe
Downie at the start of the season last year

Fair enough. I'm just a firm believer than one in the hand is worth two in the bush. |

Getting rid of Downie should have been addition by subtraction. Aside from a handful of games after his first concussion, he was dragging that line down from February on. |

Well maybe Howe, Orr, Gretzky and Lemieux - BiggE
Edmonton didn't exactly get all that for Gretzky. |

Greztky was moved for cash concerns in all 3 of his trades, including the one where he was sold to Edmonton from the racers. |

personally for Manning and Lauridsen I am happy for them to get NHL time again but I rather see them back in the AHL helping the Phantoms make the playoffs being the NHL season is lost.

Yes but the point was Gretzky didn't exactly bring a lot to Edmonton in the trade. you would have thought EDM would have gotten more. Granted I do recall something about Gretzky wanting to go to LA specifically so that does tend to tie ones hands a bit |

I can agree with this but since I don't get to see the Phantoms I am happy for the chance to watch them play for the big club, a bit selfish I know |

He was basically given a choice of where to go in both the LA and St. Louis trades. And in both cases, the main parts going back were cash amounts. In today's game, you can't do that, so it would have been more. |

its crazy to think he was a point per game player or better EVERY season except his last at the age of 37/38 and even then he had 62 in 70. |
