Plus their uniforms are ugly. Still. - Scoob
It's just a cheesy franchise in a horrible hockey market and the only cup they have is because they ran into a completey decimated Flyers team and only won by 1 GOAL!! Still pisses me off. |

Might want to hang onto it a bit longer. Could get destroyed in the playoffs. There are no moral victories here, buddy! |

BUT!! They are FLYING!!! You know the P....is FLYING!!
It's not horrible but there are better names.... sure. The logo is simple but sick. I love the logo. At least its not the "Canadiens". Thats like being the Philadephia Pennsylvanians or the Philadelphians.
Wild, Canadiens, Blue Jackets are among the worst, IMO |

Would like to see G and Jake get some points so I will say 6-4 Pens. I would take that along with Sid getting punished with at least one nice hit |

It's a sad statement but it does make it sweeter that they're good again. Still feel a little like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football though. I don't quite trust yet. |

Yeah, Wild is bad. Ironically, they have a nice logo as well.
Blue Jackets at least have some historical symbolism. Canadiens I have no prob with... like the Rochester Americans... old skool cool. |

It's a thing that flies.
Just like a refrigerator: It's a thing that refrigerates.
Or a toaster: It's a things that toasts.
“I want to get a job as someone who names kitchen appliances. Toaster, refrigerator, blender.... all you do is say what the poop does, and add "er". I wanna work for the Kitchen Appliance Naming Institute. Hey, what does that do? It keeps poop fresh. Well, that's a fresher....I'm going on break.” |

Just hope Garth Snow doesnt go all Holmgren and lock up some of your players long term. You guys are doing good but your record seems better than what the talent on paper would suggest. IMO |

The oddest thing about the Blue Jackets name is that they have a mascot of a bee, but he's green. |

I don't think players will not want to come here. Philly is an attractive market. Always a packed house, they know they want to win. They know the owner would pony up to do whatever for this club. - J35Bacher
Sorry for responding late but I really like what you had to say here and I wanna make one extra point. It's easy to swollow what Hextall is serving when he asks us to remain patient. I'm 32, it's not a lot to ask me but is it easy to ask a 80 something year old Ed Snider?

I don't disagree with you that you can still make trades before the deadline and get value if the right deal is made. But now that teams are closer to the playoff run you have a better idea on who needs what. Tampa just lost a defensman so now they might be quicker to give you more compared to a couple weeks ago.
Teams now might think they need more seondary scoring so maybe you get more for Read then previously or maybe someone thinks they can get something out of umberger or Vinny.
I think by waiting the Flyers can extract a little more then what they might have been able to get a couple weeks ago. At the All-star weekend teams will all be talking to see who needs what. - J35Bacher
Did Tampa really lose Matt Carle? If this is the case, it would be great if they took a guy like Andrew MacDonald from us but I believe Carle has years the go far beyond this season. |

The problem is, it's all speculation. None of us have any idea what Hextall has been trying to do or not. And in my opinion there's no reasonable way to judge Hexy yet based on less than 1 year as GM with serious cap and contract restraints.
Talking about hypothetical moves is one thing; talking about Hextall not following through on said hypothetical moves is something else entirely.
Black slaves movie? - wolfhounds
What I mean by the black slave movie reference is the tragic turmoil slaves had to go through while waiting for a better future all the time. We had the same conversations when Holmgren took over for Clarke. Patience, we're only two or three years away. The contracts have been bad but Homer open the door to bringing in younger skilled and less known players to Philly. Now we're at square one. |

i mean what other moves could he have made? im sure if he could have traded hartnell for picks he would have done it. the next two years are going to be spent clearing homers messes. - PhillaBully
Admittedly I don't have an answer but we do lack toughness now, which we did have one year ago. Speed we've been without for a while and mobility on the back end but I do feel Hextall took the toughness away. |
