He will.... and I would go in if other contracts shed first. - bmeltzer
The Flyers should absolutely target Boychuck if he reaches free agency.

I didn't think Lauridsen did that bad of a job when he was up the first time around either, I just wonder why it has taken this long to recall him again. Especially with the garbage that gets rolled out night after night. Could he really be any worse? Guess we will find out tonight. - Daveflyers36
Yes, he could be. Lauridsen is most likely a career minor league defenseman. |

The Islanders will lock him up soon if they have any sense. Even if it requires overpayment. |

That would be my guess also. Unless Boychuck is determined to test free agency. I wonder if they've been negotiating. |

That will be playing 20 minutes a night for an NHL team.
Macdonald said it can be done! |

I just want to know if you're playing the game tonight, before I consider responding further?

I still think it would be wise to keep sharp objects away from you. Just a precaution.

The problem with this, for me, is that I think Boychuk is going to command exactly the sort of exorbitant salary that the Flyers need to avoid, going forward. He's going to get a lot of years and a lot of money.
He is younger than Orpik, but even so, I'd be very leery of giving him Orpik years/money.
Maybe if you move some combination of Streit, Coburn, Lecavalier, or MacDonald there would be cap room for him, but still... if it were me, I'd pass. |

Didnt they start Vokoun against us to disastrous results? Or did he just come in, in relief and bring gasoline to the fire? |

Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon playing against Canada... Jack Eichel and Jacob Trouba against the US... sounds like fun. - Tomahawk
8 teams total. 6 of being Canada, USA, Czech, Sweden, Finland and Russia
One team of under 23 year old NORTH AMERICAN players. One team of "euro all stars" from other countries not listed in the top 6.
(frank)ing child play. Wont hold a candle to the Olympics or IIHF tournament. Even with north American media shoving this down the throats of the masses. |

I wouldn't hesitate for a second to pay him Orpik years and money. That would be cheap. I wouldn't be able to get the contract signed and approved fast enough.

yeah i dont blame you. thats what its going to take. and if you think the player makes the difference, you have to do what you have to do.
i just dont think orpik can play at the level to justify that overreach.
however, i know the feeling. id offer the same deal to giordano and then move virtually whatever necessary to make it work |
