the McD one is the worst, by far.

Orpik is providing a huge physical presence on that team, and is playing a lot of hard minutes. It's allowed them to take a lot off of Alzner, and allowed them to slot and use other defenseman properly. Orpik has been a big key to that team actually becoming a solid defensive team when they haven't been in the past.

yeah i think resigning him would be a high priority for the isles. even if it costs an extra mil or a year of term. he really has been just what they ordered, along with halak.

i really have to hand it to the isles the way they put that team together. used multiple different avenues of player acquisition. really identified areas of need and put it together. knew going into this year theyd be good, but i didnt think from top to bottom they would be this solid. really fun to watch too.

oh yeah. everyone fawns over the idea of malkin turning him into some sort of 35 goal winger. i dont see that happening. but i could see him being 20 goals and awesome 2 way play.

Kind of a shame.

Not that I wanted CC to sit due to an injury - I'm glad to see he's apparently alright (though, we're talking about the medical staff who declared Mason fit to play also) - but I did want to see Ollie strap the pads on.
