I was watching a little of the Blues game last night. Crazy what a real defense corps looks like.
- johndewar

And again that is a team with a fourth line of Ott- Reaves - Lapierre. The Flyers have no edge to their game.

I like Chris Stewart but the Sabres would want 1st rounder for him. I also like Marcus Foligno but again probably asking a lot. I would like to get Kassian out of Vancouver. He has been a healthy scratch so i wonder what it would take.
- J35Bacher

Zach Kassian is also on my radar, good eye. He's a big and tough kid with some skill. Real good junior's player.

I would want no part of any of those players on the Flyers, especially Lapierre. I'd MAYBE take Ott, but not at his cost (cap and trade requirements).

I know some people think grit means a fighter. I want someone that is hard to play against. Hell I would even maybe look at Pat Maroon if available. I would look at Matt Beleksy in the offseason if he goes to UFA. Too many people seem to think the hockey is all finesse these days but some of the best teams employ some nasty edge players.

Cooke gets an honorary mention, but my two most hated Pens ever have to be (its a statistical tie) Ulf Samuelsson and Tom Barrasso. Neither one should require an explanation.

My favorite Pens story (and I can only hope its true) is that his teammates used to refer to the former goalie as Barr@sshole.

- Doc_Sarcasm

LOL
Here the 10 Pens I've hated the most:

10. Kristopher Letang - I just hate listening to Regis say his name over and over

9. Rob Brown - Every time he did that windmill, I want to break off one of his arms and beat him with it.

8. Kevin Stevens - Just an all around douchebag

7. Malkin - Another weaselly little cheap shot artist, plus he's uglier than a day old pile of dog poop

6. Tom Barasso - Hell, even his own teammates didn't like him!

5. Darius Kasparitis - A complete tool

4. James Neal - Can't stand this diving piece of poop, I truly hope he gets a career ending injury as soon as possible.

3. Crosby - What a whiny little female dog! I'll always love Derian Hatcher for cracking him upside the head in the little poop's rookie season!

2. Matt Cooke - The cheap shot king of the NHL. Another guy who needs a concussion in the worst way.

1. Ulf Samuelsson - He would be in my top 5 hated players of all time for sure. I don't think this utter piece of poop ever threw a clean hit in his life. If you don't believe me, just ask Cam Neely.

What do you want? We've become more or less apathetic at this point. You're not gonna get many biters today around these parts.

I saw this coming. I made a huge stink when Hartnell was traded and I made a stink when we didn't sign Steve Ott. This "vision" Hextall has isn't going to work here.

Everyone enjoying life without Braydon Coburn and Nick Grossmann?

Asking for a friend.

- johndewar

I miss them!
Everyone knows I adore Grossmann - as lumbering as he is we miss him clearing the porch and wrapping people up to, ya know, stop shots and stuff...

And I don't feel anyone we are calling up can reach Coburn's level of play.

Yup it's like the Eagles and Cowboys. To Eagles fans the rivalry is huge, but to Cowboys fans it's always the Redskins that draw the most hate.

This, I could go a step further and say the Giants are next.

That's fine. But they are part of a good team. You might not like them but they seem to be helping a good St.Louis team.

And i am not saying i want those exact guys. But when i look at some of the top teams they play a nasty game. Anaheim up and down plays fast and hard. We saw the islanders do it. St. Louis does it.

I think the "top rivalry" depends on when you got into hockey. For me, it's the Rangers and Devils as a tight 1 and 2, and then Penguins as a distant 3rd since I got into hockey in the early 90s. People from the 70's would probably say the Bruins. People from the 80's would say Rangers. People from 05-present would say Pittsburgh.

Great list but can't you squeeze Bob Errey in there. That guy is the biggest Dork Homer in the leauge. If I only get Pens feed, I literally watch game on mute

That's fine. We'll dress a line of Mathers-Rinaldo-Goulbourne and give them 7 minutes a game next year. They have no skill and will leave you shorthanded more often than not. But hey, "HIT SUMBUDDY!"

He got his comeuppance when he had his forehead shattered - knocked unconscious by a Rich Pilon check and fell face first on the ice. That's what sold me on Karma in the '90s.

I think it will work but of course guys need to be moved out. Its close to the same thing LA and Anaheim have run. They just need the players to do it. That is why I think Hextall will get tie to remake this team. I know some think Matt Read is too valuable to move but I think they would prefer more size and grit.

Outside of contract reasons, I hated the reasons behind the Hartnell deal. Hartnell is a gritty, character guy who can score, while Umburger is a more disciplined, better skater and boring player. To me, if this is Hextall's vision, hockey in Philly is gonna suck! The mid 90's Devils were great teams who won on most nights but outside of a Scott Stevens crushing hit, they put you to sleep.

I would have put Billy Tibbetts on there. But a question for you: if he hadn't played here in 11/12, would Jagr have made the list?

Regardless of the ramifications, I can never be happy with a Devils win. Never.

I disagree, I don't think Hextall has had time to get his vision anywhere near the ice. Yep, we are gonna suck for some time. My hope is that we aren't calling up some of our better prospects so that they can actually spend some time winning and not spend it on our team losing. I'm prepared to give Hextall some time to see what he can do. I'm curious to see what he does at the trade deadline and my hope is that he doesn't feel too pressured to make knee jerk moves because we are losing.

LA isn't boring though. They have size, grit and scoring. Maybe not fun to watch lately but pretty good their last couple of Cup runs.

You need toughness, but you also need toughness that can play. Just adding Jay Rosehill to the line up does nothing.

People seem to forget that Hextall had limited cap space to move pieces and add toughness last summer. I don't think his preference or plan is to have a soft team, it's what the cap issues and mess left by Holmgren have given him.

You take it to left center field.

Obviously the guys in St. Louis are doing well as they don;t seem to be trouble for that team. The islanders fourth line did well too. I am not saying you dress incompetant players. You dress the right players. A fourth line of say White - Bellemare - Rosehill could do what the Islanders did. Dallas also has a tough, quick fourth line that plays with and edge.

For me it has flip flopped between the Rangers and Penguins. It was the Rangers for my entire life, but when Crosby came in to the league, the Pens started rising with a bullet. I appreciate Crosby's skill and think he is unquestionably the best player in the league, but his antics, the diving, the whining, the cheap play, the way he starts crap because he knows the refs will save him....just annoys the hell out of me.

I respected the hell out of Lemieux, Jagr, Ron Francis, those guys were class.

Malkin and Crosby, I don't respect them.
