I'm legit refusing to get over this. It's a penalty, call it.
- BulliesPhan87

It was a very poorly officiated game. The two calls in the 3rd, against Schenn and Sill were bush league.

It shouldn't even be a penalty, IMO.

more players that should just not see the ice.

give me akesons over those guys all day.

and farnham got rocked, but really rebounded in the fight. if i remember correctly, he actually had him down and couldve gotten a few more shots in, but didnt.

but regardless. just wastes.

thats my point though. youre vapid void went to the locker room. i wish he could have taken the pair of them with him.

Dude threw a couple punches while PEB was prone on the ice...that's a tough guy no-no. Bush league sissy stuff.

i do agree with whoever else said it before. not that it excuses it, but he was probably embarrassed.

He's just not that big of a guy...looking for a role in the NHL. Can't really blame him.

Didn't realize this was said, but definitely valid.

If I get rocked like that I'm gonna try to salvage a few even if the guy's on the ice. He actually had a shot to deal a pretty good blow to PEB (what would have been the 3rd one he threw while on the ice) but he stopped himself. Which I'll give him credit for.

I definitely can see him just being embarrassed/pissed and trying to fight for pride at that point, then realized what he was doing and called it off.

If I remember right, the 2 he landed on PEB while he was down weren't exactly crushing.

EDIT: What I'm trying to say is PEB wasn't too vulnerable while getting hit on the ice. We see punches thrown at "protected" guys on the ice all time, honestly, and think nothing of it. The second he turned vulnerable, he stopped throwing. So good on him.

eh. he hasnt done anything excruciatingly dirty in his time with the pens that ive seen so far. but he isnt exactly someone who has much talent either. hes small and trying hard out there, yeah i guess i can admit that. and sure you can say he has heart. but then again, all those same things apply to rinaldo. just because this guy hasnt done anything like rinaldo did tonight doesnt necessarily give me a soft spot for him.

id take PEB over him any day. (and not just in a boxing match either)

Undoubtedly a poorly officiated circus of a game

I will admit I had fun watching it though.

im honestly not a huge fan of hipchecks in general.

by the rulebook, it didnt appear to be something that you can pick apart like rinaldos and basically use as a tutorial on what is a dirty play. but just in general, its not really a play i like to see.

i know i sound like a big wussy with a lot of this, but i really do care about player safety. i get it. its a contact sport. but if youre a good enough defenseman, you dont need to go low there on voracek like that.

i know i sound like roger goodell and am basically taking everything away from the defender, but really, leave the head and the knees alone in my book.

Agreed.

I, actually, love seeing a good hipcheck. This was not that though. A hipcheck's principle point of contact should be the opposition's hip/thigh area. This one was a little too low for my liking. That's how people get hurt.

Jake was a little pissed about it too, eh? Ho Lee Chit.

they sound good in theory but i feel like they seldom work out and again, the point of emphasis is always too low. knees can destroy a guys career.

and yeah he was. im fine with how he responded. not out there on the next shift looking to elbow an unsuspecting guy, but immediately in his face. i know jake isnt typically that kind of player, but he obviously took exception to his knees being taken out and he acted accordingly.

A lot of Pens fans apparently thought Jake was a bit of a female dog on that play. I didn't see the hit, or the fight yet, so I can't really comment.
