I don't know why the isles would wants to mess with the chemistry of their team right now. Even if they dont trade roster players, seems silly to trade a 1st rd pick based on one good season that's only half way done

Also, how is his next contract going to pan out? Is he going to get paid for his recent performance or is he going to to get paid because he was a first overall pick?

I don't think those contract negotiations will be pretty.

Doubt Edmonton would trade him for picks or prospects they need roster players at this point. I really doubt a deal could happen unless the Habs would trade Gallagher for him.... Agree his contract negotiations will be ugly. Like a short term deal to redeem himself in hopes of a bigger payday.

The Oilers have to hold on to Yakupov right now, he's just not worth much right now and they have to hope he turns it around under new coaching. I'm sure he'll get a very cheap 1 year deal with the opportunity to prove himself.

This would be a horrible time to trade Yakupov unless it's to a team that would pay more than his current value. Otherwise hang on to him and let him continue to develop. Would love to see a deal for Myers.
