Just for conversation but anyone out there, reasonable, that you would like to see the Flyers try to aquire. For me it would be Zack Kassian. I think he could be like Matt Belesky. Grit and goal scoring. Adds size. |

I like his size and grit, He would need to step up the goal scoring for me to be more interested.

What did you post to support your argument? Everyone is certainly entitled to an opinion. The difference between our opinions is that I made a statement giving the opinion that Carle for a period of time was an elite defenseman in the NHL at ES. In another post, I posted the reasons why I labeled his as such, due to his all around play, elite scoring level at ES, and leading the entire league in plus games one season.
The extent of your opinion and replies back were smiley faces, ask what the TB fans think, and stating that he was nowhere near elite, EVER!
I do like the new Hockeybuzz defenseman rating system that has developed though. Well he's a 2nd pair defenseman, but not on a good team. And it's funny how in some viewpoints, MacDonald has gone from being a 3rd pair defenseman, to an average 2nd pair defenseman who wouldn't be a 2nd pair defenseman on a good team. - MJL
Carle was a +30 and had 37 even strength assists......while being paired with Pronger. Pronger makes everyone he plays with seem better than they are. Andrej Mezaros once had a season of +34 and +30. Thats an impressive stat but he didnt have an elite season. He isnt an elite player. As far as your comment about you dont think Carle is an overall elite player but he was elite at even strength. How does that even make any sense?? Being an elite player at even strength 9 times out of 10 makes you an elite player, period. |

I have no idea what "Being an elite player at even strength 9 times out of 10 makes you an elite player, period." even means
I'll restate my opinion. Feel free to look it up. Carle led all NHL defenseman in ES scoring one season, as well as leading all NHL players one season, not in total +/-, but in plus games. That combined with his all around solid play, made him an elite defenseman at even strength.
There is no evidence to support that it was due to Pronger. Carle had very strong seasons when Pronger was out injured.

I would still take a chance on Dylan Olsen. Swap Rinaldo for him. |

Only when he's fighting a player he doesn't have 5 inches and 40 pounds on. Hell stand toe-to-toe with Adam Hall any time. |

I'm not sure that Olsen's really an NHL player.
Seems like another in the long line of a 'raw' defenders taken high because they were big, fast and could shoot. See: Keaton Ellerby, Duncan Siemens, Ty Wishart. |

But for Rinaldo it wouldn't be worth it?
Anyone see Eklunds new blog about teams interested in Kimmo? Also i sw St. Louis loss two forwards. Wonder if you could sned them and RJ or Vinny or Matt Read and get something back. |

Colby Robak, who's on waivers right now, would be more worth it, IMO. |
