now you can have pouliot and either those 2 seconds or the next first round pick the pens manage to hold on to, and another asset. for one wayne simmonds |

Are we debating the issue of having too many good defenseman with respect to the 2014/2015 Philadelphia Flyers? - jmatchett383

I wonder if the Flyers know internally what Timonen's wishes are for the rest of the season, if he would accept a trade. - MJL
This is his last chance if he gets healthy Flyers will do whatever he wants but if I'm him you have to go chase the cup |

kapanen is literally the only asset they have on the farm that i would be hesitant to part with.
im torn. if its kapanen i may have to hold out unless more is coming the other way. but i have to admit its maddeningly tempting.
how about you? close to taking the bait or what? |

Simmer's my boy, but if you're ready to give up that much to get him, I'm not sure I could say no.

I was thinking that too. If they know he would be ok going somewhere, the timeing of all this seems perfect. He comes back, plays some games right before the deadline and then gets traded to a contender for the stretch. |

No because the first would have to be in the 2016 draft because they don't have a 2015.
Also I think you could get better deals somewhere else. |

I'd do it, but I'd have to take a dump on the other GM's head for being so damn infuriating. |

i REALLY dont want to move kapanen. honestly, i think people expecting him to just ride shotgun with sid next year may be jumping the gun a bit, but i just (frank)ing need to see this team draft a winger with a high pick and develop him into something. the principle of the matter is worth almost as much as the ELC value years.
id push hard to make that other asset something other than him. im sure a lot of people from both fanbases will disagree, and thats fine by me, but value wise, i really dont think we are that far off.
a lot of flyers fans will say no simply because its the pens, and i get that. but if we made this team x and team y the value is there.
and from a pens perspective, i realize its emptying a lot of the war chest, but i dont think a lot of pens fans get to watch him as much as i do. he is EXACTLY what this team needs. |

Simmonds is guy you should never trade to a division rival, especially the Pens. |

If they're going to trade him, they should try and get that done before playing 10 games. |

yeah. the first would have to be in 2016.
providing that one isnt moved of course
and as much as I like simmonds, you really think his perceived value around the league is worth a bunch more than a first, one of the more highly regarded D prospects around the league, and another asset? |

All kidding aside, that package could get you just about 98% of the players in the league. It's kind of nuts -- didn't think you'd actually bite, lol. |

Not sure. But I think you could do better. I don't know. But if I am trading in division to rival I am wanting more. Not sure trading Pouliet would be wise with Erholf out |

i think im holding strong on not including KK. i think. check back to me when the pens get bounced in the first round while going 0 for 13 on the PP and have 0 net front presence/physicality.
A first plus pouliot plus another asset besides KK is a hell of a package. and yeah, i do think it could get a large percentage of guys around the league. I do think its fair value for simmonds. and then some to make up for the rival fact. i know it will never happen, but still fun to go back and forth over.
just to see how much flesh it takes for you to bite haha

Wayne may be the best bargain in the NHL given his production + cap hit
It would require a massive over-payment for me. Pens are an absolute no regardless of who they offer. You don't trade a player like that in division.
Really, you don't trade players like Wayne Simmonds at all. I'm not even considering it unless an absolutely ridiculous offer comes my way.
Just as an example, say its the Oilers; deal STARTS with Yakupov. Period. You just don't trade players like Simmonds.... |
