My guess is they would take out Colaiacovo, MDZ, and Schultz.
I would prefer if they trade AMAC for nothing and play MDZ/Schultz - Streit2ThePoint
Right now, they're not going to take out Del Zotto, and Schultz seems to be a Berube favorite. Why would the Flyers foolishly give away a quality defenseman like MacDOnald for nothing? |

Ehh, I supported him when he came here..... So far I'm dissapointed. Would love to dump his cap for nothing. We have D-men in the pipeline..... |

Only way I see MacDonald being traded is if the Flyers eat some of his contract. |

I just think if guys are sitting as healthy scratches their trade value diminishes such as Schenn or whoever Berube chooses to sit.

I think if Timonen can get in game shape, he can help out in that area.
If the Flyers want Timonen, Coburn, and Grossmann in the linup when they're healthy, that means 3 defenseman who are currently playing, need to come out of the lineup. One will be Colaiacovo. That means that 2 defenseman who don't deserve to come out of the lineup, will have to come out. Barring any trades. - MJL
I hope he hangs them up. I don't want that penalty for next year, also his MO is he's pretty bad to start seasons out until he can get it going. He is coming in late and I think it's highly likely he could be their worst dman for awhile |

Good win against a quality team. Mason was solid early, outstanding late. Simmonds had a monster game. Top to bottom, it was a good game. Only guys that stood out negatively to me were MacDonald(bad clear led to a Jets goal) & Carlo Colaiacovo, who seemed to be fighting it all night.
MacDonald was fine after the turnover, too. - Jsaquella
I thought that pair was terrible. Scared the hell out of me. Multiple failed clears and what not. Obviously the turnover on the first goal was brutal (both turnovers), but neither were good last ngith
So, when Coburn, Grossmann and possibly Timonen return, who sits?
If it were up to me CC, Mac, and Schenn. |

I don't think we have to worry about that, because they couldn't give him away if they wanted to.
I feel there is no way MDZ or Schultz come out of the lineup. Especially MDZ.
Luke Schenn and MacDonald should sit before either of them.
And of course

So, when healthy, you'd leave Coliacovo in over Coburn? - jmatchett383
I'd put coburn back in just to have a chance at trading him. Grossman too. Theyve got a next to nothing shot at the playoffs so id look to play these guys to have a chance to trade them. I just think the D looks better and the team better as a whole getting to loose pucks and breaking out efficiently without them |

Actually Lecavalier has been doing a solid job as the 3rd man high, and backchecking, as well as playing solidly in the defensive zone. He has adjusted his game to be a better fit for the situation he is in. - MJL
I give him him credit for doing that. And it seems it has helped in creating chances. Also Vandevelde and Bellemare seem to have a knack for getting there sticks on pucks. |

I'd like to see Manning with MacDonald. MacDonald needs a more physical partner I think. - J35Bacher
Grossmann-MacDonald could be a pairing soon if Berube wants to keep Schultz and Streit together.
Straka looked lively last night but I don't see him sticking around when Raffl's OK. White already looks twice as useful as Rinaldo. |

Coliacovo has been the worst-looking defenseman this season, which is more or less expected. The team is having success, but I believe that's despite him as opposed to because of him. |

Yeah, Straka hasn't impressed me too much. Granted, it's only 2 games. He has some nice speed, but nothing has really stood out to make me think he deserves to stay. |

This was touched on in yesterdays thread but here is some good info from Serevallis article today r
Schenn, 23, is now tied with Wayne Simmons in points this season with 31. He is on pace for a career-high 51 points.
Last season, there were 79 players in the NHL to net more than 51 points. Only 17 of them were 23 or younger. As sore a subject as he may be, supposed superstar-in-waiting James van Riemsdyk has only once ever broken 51 points (last year). He wasn't one of those players in that 23-and-under category; he was already 24.

I keep reading/hearing that LA wants another defenseman. Do you think you could do something like Coburn and Read for say a 2nd and Tofolli |

Yeah. BUt his line also hasn't been on the ice much. Once Raffl comes back he will be sent back. Maybe they were hoping him getting a taste will light a fire for him to really make a push next season and continue to keep pushing in the AHL. |

I'd move Grossman and/or Coburn with Read to LA for that, and if were all three players obviously get another player, prospect, or change that 2nd to a 1st

At this point, the team might as well ride it out with Brayden Schenn. What do they have to lose? |

I think the problem with Macdonald is if he was only making say 3mil your ok with him. But since he is in the 5mil you expect more. I think he is an ok defender I just think for what he brings you can find at a cheaper price. |

MacDonald looked like a nice pick up last season and i supported him but this year idk what the heck has happened. he created several chances for the Jets last night. One of them would have been a fast break if the Jets player luckily didn't break his stick on the pass |
