Kimmo, Coburn, Streit, Happy Meal, Schultz, MDZ, Schenn, Grossmann,
3 must go before end of season
I still don't think we are making playoffs... Just too far back and they are chasing good teams.
I want at 1 first and 2 seconds for three of those guys. Maybe two 1st's if Streit and Coburn are 2 of the 3 moved.
Let's stack the picks for this draft......then Hexy can do his thing draft day |

No cost. None.
Here's the funny thing about JvR. He was picked #2 overall, and because of that he was labeled as a future "superstar".
People were pissed that he wanted to stay in college.
People were pissed that he wasnt a point per game player over his Flyers career.
People were pissed that he couldnt be consistent as a young player.
Typical Philly.. At 25, JvR is in the midst of a very good offensive season.. Hell, likely to be in the top 25 in points this season. He may not be a "superstar" but he is a legitimate top line winger. - jak521
JVR struggled to stay healthy for us. His last season with us his second game back from an injury he dove to block a shot and then broke his foot or leg. I miss JVR like hell. was my favorite player on the team. One of the wrong doings of Homer trading for a temporary fix rather than waiting on JVR. Could you imagine JVR-G-Jake |

I don't think we have to worry about that, because they couldn't give him away if they wanted to.
I feel there is no way MDZ or Schultz come out of the lineup. Especially MDZ.
Luke Schenn and MacDonald should sit before either of them.
And of course
- MBFlyerfan
I think there would be a market for MacDonald in the off season if they wanted to trade him.
The problem is that neither Schenn or MacDonald deserve to sit. Schenn has been strong down low and around the net, and has played well on the PK. MacDonald has been playing pretty well overall since he got back from injury. |

But remember, that season, they had a crazy high-powered offense while missing JvR for the majority of the season. I think that the team thought that would continue, and it made JvR expendable. Not a good trade, either at the time or in hindsight, but I can at least understand the intent. It just wasn't executed well. |

Hextall is sure going to have his hands full once everyone is healthy and Kimmo is back. Hopefully he ships the right guys out for the right deals. Would be great for Hexy to have a stacked amount of picks for this draft |

im with you. Always defended JVR. He still suffers from the same inconsistencies that led him to being traded but I would still love to have him. With that said, I wasn't against trading him either but I wanted a different Dman than Luke. I had wished he would have been used as part of a package to land Weber. |

Yeah we had some serious depth that year with our offense and the lines were clicking. Im not sure how true this rumor was, but didn't Yotes offer Yandle for JVR or was that just philly media bs? |

The return should have been something in addition to Luke Schenn. Like, another young player or a draft pick.
This isn't even second guessing. Many said this at the time of the trade. |

Are we debating the issue of having too many good defenseman with respect to the 2014/2015 Philadelphia Flyers? |

I just hope they dont make the same mistake with Schenn..
the other poster was talking about 51 point seasons and JVR compared to Schenn..
Look at PPG rating over their first full 4 seasons respectively (JVR 6 seasons)
JVR: .45-- .53 -- .56-- .67 --.76-- .86
Schenn: .33-- .55-- .50-- .62
Pretty similar in offensive production huh?

Like I said, it was badly executed. If they had gotten a guy like Blacker or D'Amigo, it would have been much easier. |

I was OK with trading JvR, actually. They just should have gotten more back than they did.
It was, easily, Homer's worst move. |

MacDonald looked like a nice pick up last season and i supported him but this year idk what the heck has happened. he created several chances for the Jets last night. One of them would have been a fast break if the Jets player luckily didn't break his stick on the pass - arichardson22
He got off to an inconsistent start in the beginning of the season. Since coming back from the injury and getting his feet back under him, he has been playing a solid all around game. He had a very strong game against the Coyotes. He struggled early in the game last night, including a pretty poor givaway leading to a goal. He got better as the game went along. |

Well, lets take em one by one:
Kimmo: If he comes back, and he's willing to be dealt, you have to move him. His contract makes him pretty easy to move to a contender and the guy deserves a chance to win a cup. If he comes back and looks effective, you might be able to get a late first for him, worst case, you'd certainly get a 2nd and maybe a 3rd in 2016.
Coburn: I still think he can be very effective if paired with the right partner, however if you can get a 1st for him, he needs to go.
Streit: He's still very valuable here and is going to be counted on to perform the same role next year. I would need at least a 1st in 2015 plus a 2nd or a prospect to move him.
AMac: LOL, good luck moving him unless you are willing to eat money. He'll be back next year.
Schultz: I think he's a guy that can be re-signed at a reasonable rate for the next 2 seasons. However, if you can get a 2nd for him, it has to be considered.
MDZ: Considering he's RFA, the Flyers are in the drivers seat here. I'd re-sign him before I'd trade him
Schenn: Yeah he's struggled quite a bit, but lets face it, you aren't going to get a whole lot for him right now. I'd keep him for now and perhaps move him next year when he's in the last year of his deal.
Grossmann: If I can get a 2nd, he's gone. If not, keep him and try to move him at next year's deadline.

Very similar and I'm all in favor of keeping Schenn, but like many say, depending on the return in a trade for him, i would consider moving. But he still is only 23. |

The opinion you offer here reminds of the one game a couple of years ago where you criticized Carle for having an awful game, when he was the best defenseman on the ice for both teams. |

Totally agree. They traded an impact player for a dying breed of a d-man. |
