I don't think he'll get you a 1st based on his health condition and age. However, if you're approached with an offer for him that's in the 2nd round or better, the Flyers should ask him what he'd like to do and respect his wishes. - jmatchett383
I know it's Timonen, but I'd be very surprised were an offer that high.
Were I the GM of a legit Cup contender I'd wish him well in his return to the Flyers and move on. |

Because Schenn is 25, a right handed dman and only has one year left at a relatively reasonable 3.6 million, he is moveable. You won't get more than a 3rd but you wouldn't have to eat money or take back a bad contract. - BiggE
We'll agree to disagree. If they were to put him on waivers he would go unclaimed IMO |

Schenn could be useful to a team like Vancouver or Anaheim. I would push for 2nd but take a third. Hell, I would even throw in Rinaldo. |

Which is fine with me. If that's the case, I hope he finished his career here.
Still, I think that a Cup contender misses out of some of the other D near the end of the TDL, they may get a little antsy and give an offer for him. |

No chance. Teams around the NHL horde defensemen. There would be multiple claims on him. |

Depends on who the contender is, but overall I think I agree. I would like to start bouncing around which teams could use Timonen as that final push piece.
A team that has the prospect and or pick depth to take the shot. There HAVE to be some of those teams who fit that bill.

Streit is so valuable but if a first is there I would take it, and pursue a Green as a UFA. - 3flyerkids
That's a terrible idea. Green is going to want a Niskanen type deal, and he's not that good anymore. The last thing we need is another huge, long term contract on defense. |

Especially with how ufa dmen go for these days. Would be another contract to have to worry about. Especially if his game isn't that great snymore |

Great on the PP, but a third pairing guy at ES. And he gets injured a lot. So not someone I think the Flyers should be looking at giving 6/36 too.

If the Flyers wanted to move LSchenn I think they could get a 2nd + Bryan Allen's expiring contract back from Montreal. |

That's what I am thinking.. Green's not goint to come here on a 1 yr deal. Having said that, if a team says, here's my 2015 1st for Streit, I take the deal and figure out a solution for next year. Someone offers a 3rd and AHLer, pound sand. |

Be suprised if Green gets a 7 year deal like Niskanen. Can't see him getting a huge raise |

With the value of draft picks, I can't see a team giving up a 2nd for Timonen as a rental... jsut too hight.. I could see a 3rd or a prospect that's fallen out of favour.. That's all.. Timonen may play out the string here.. |

Really? He's only 29. And $6m per year would actually be a pay cut. |

If you can replace his skills for cheaper, then why would you need a "nice package" for him? - jmatchett383
Because you have him I am not just going to ship him for nothing. I am not saying he is bad but I think he got more then his skillset should. He is also not 30 yeat so he is still an asset. I just don't want to give him away since he is useful. |

I know offensive dmen are coveted, but I just don't think he'd be what we need. I am sure some team will give him 4 years 24 mil or something.. just don't think it should be us. |

That's on a blueline that just added PIT's entire 2nd-pair, tho. If he were here, I'd suspect his usage would look exactly like Streit's -- 2nd-tier comp with starts heavily skewed toward the o-zone, oodles of PP time.
He's RH, younger and a better defender, too.
If they, say, could lure him for 2-years $7M/per and get a top-60 pick for Streit (however unlikely that is, due to term), it would be a pretty decent shuffle. |

Right...but if you can get the same service for less money, and you can get SOMETHING for the more expensive service, why would you hold out on the more expensive service? |

I think if Del Zotto is staying and you have Streit I don't think you really need Green. You also have Gostisbiere possibly close, depending on recovery of injury and offseason, that I don't know if Green would be the answer. Morin could be close to the team next season and so could Hagg. Just say you keep Streit, Del Zotto, Schultz, Schenn, MacDonald. Does adding Green really make things better? I would rather let Morin or Hagg maybe fill that slot. |

that'd work, but I think Green will almost certainly have longer term offers for not much less coin per |
