People continually underestimate self-educated. Do you truly have a lack of vocabulary or has your focus been on other things? Math was easy because there was always a right answer. English on the other hand if you had a different point of view than the teacher you were in the $hit books regardless whether you were right or not. "Think like me or f@ck you" - thundachunk
Grammar... it didn't help that my father took the family back to Cape Breton after I was born. My first few years of learning to speak was something a few years later couldn't be comprehended in grade 2 and 3 in Ontario. I bloodied one nose after another for making fun of my language in those first couple of years. That behavior was normal as poop in a school yard in Sydney. In Toronto it meant you couldn't go on field trips.

This Chicago vs San Jose game is good hockey. They're gonna destroy the Canucks if we make a wildcard spot. On that note, LA lost again |

Elementary school no, high school yes. Basic skills and advanced skills are not the same and should be separated differently. Give teenagers a proper focus to better themselves for the future. - thundachunk
Teens are allowed to choose their own courses in high school. Given the experience we have all had with the human race, I think it be best if the school system teaches kids all aspects of life not individual skills. If the person chooses so they can learn an individual skill or trait after. Hence post secondary education. |

I know I said this last week they have played 7 more home games then road games so far so I like the chances they don't make the playoffs….. Knock on wood |

Went to the comets game yesterday. I really liked Archie's play. He plays with an edge. Uses his size well and creates chances. I was really impressed with Pedan. For a big guy be skates really well and uses his position more then size to separate players from the puck. He is not afraid to shoot or get involved in the offense. Beiga to me seems like the most offensive minded d we have. He was always ready to jump up in the play and ready to shoot. Has great wheels to get back if caught up in the play. I would like to see him get a chance with the big team. I think he will do good. Player that really surprised me was Gaunce. He played wing and was everywhere. Created chances and had some great hits. He is a little slow in getting back to defence but I can see him as a bottom 6 winger. With someone like Richardson I think Gaunce would do well. Erickson played good. He tracked the puck well and we square to the puck. I would hate to lose him. Shink has good wheels but to me he seems to pull up every time he saw a hit coming. He plays afraid. I was really disappointed in his effort. Jensen was buzzing all game. He has really worked on his 200 foot game. He was not afraid to go into the corners. Made some really good plays and created a lot of chances from nothing. For a finesse player he loves physical play. Nylander has some good wheels and a sweet set of hands but he is nowhere close to nhl ready. He plays really small and after a crushing hit by Pedan he was always ready to get rid of the puck as soon as he saw a hit coming. He needs to get used to NA style of the game before he can do anything in nhl. I think Archie, Jensen, Beiga are ready for a shot at big leagues. Pedan will do great in a couple of years time. Shink needs a shrink to get his head in the game. Gaunce will be a good bottom 6 in a year or 2. Erickson should be kept. |

Thanks for the update!
According to the guys over at HF who regularly watch the comets, Pedan has really been improving his game. I would be ecstatic if the big guy turns pro in a few years. Could really use the size on the back end.

Not all players are physical players. Lots of players try to avoid hits. If you asked Marty St. Louis to take the hit all the time he would say your crazy |

I was really impressed by Pedan. Usually big guys in d use their size more than positioning and hockey sense to defend. He never got beat and was always in position. And he can hit like a truck. This might be the sleeper trade of Benning. |

If you are referring to my comment about Shink then I disagree. Smaller players that don't like getting hit use their speed and skills. Shink just dumped the puck as soon as he saw a hit coming or he would let up going into the corner for the puck even if he had a beat on the d. It was frustrating to watch that and knowing he was a first rounder. |

Maybe Linden seen one of his better games, because the play by play guy , a few weeks back , described him as an adventure.
Said he is a very hard hitter, with NHL shot , and he will leave it at that. |

You have been out of school for too long. Most kids who know they aren't going on to university don't bother showing up to half of their classes. My sister has her master's in conservation biology and I asked her who Joseph Stalin was. Crickets. Like it or not, people will specialize, may as well start sooner and streamline the process |

Seriously.
" When the Senators called about Antoine Vermette, the Coyotes asked for Curtis Lazar or another top-end prospect. They want two pieces and a draft pick for Keith Yandle"
It's no wonder trades don't happen anymore, perhaps Gillis had a lasting impact on the league. |
