I don't think MDZ was ever bad enough this season to warrant that benching. I've been more than happy with his performance and want him signed to a reasonable deal. - ThirdEye
I tend to agree with you. But it could have been something else we don't really know about like he wasn't giving max effort in practice. Regardless, he seems locked in now. I just hope he keeps this up.
He had a run of bad play, but it wasn't worse than other "more veteran" players. There's always a pecking order that a coach has no matter who he is, and personal bias comes into play. He's obviously not one of Chief's favorites. - jmatchett383
When Del Zotto is playing well and within the team structure, Berube plays the crap out of Del Zotto. Not sure how it can be deermined that Del Zotto is not of Berube's favorites.

The only reason I think that is because, even during his run of bad play before his scratching, he wasn't really playing much worse than some other more established players, and all coaches seem to give those guys way more slack. Plus, when he was out, several players had their games fall off a cliff while he stayed out, and Berube still kept him as a healthy scratch.

(frank) Chief. Hopefully he won't even be a factor next year.

Okay, so he's fought some players (some of them tough, some of them Kovalchuk). So has Kris Letang. So have many players.
Would you be happier is I said he acted yellow on that particular play? Would that make you happier. - jmatchett383
I don't know what it is about you that makes you feel your so different from me in terms of being a "trouble maker" but the argument is over now. I don't want to get called a name and have the end result being me getting banned over this. Just accept your victory. I'm well aware of the truth.

Berube has scratched players for different reasons overall. All of the defenseman at one time or another have made isolated mistakes in games, and that hasn't led to a player being scratched. Subpar play over a period of time, has led to defenseman scratched. I think it's been well documented why Berube scratched Del Zotto. I can't state why he was held out for so long, and I agree with those who question why he sat out for so long. I could speculate on it, but it would be just that. Berube has scratchd Del Zotto and kept him out for a stretch, but he also played Del Zotto big minutes. I don't think it has anything to do with favoritism.

Like I said, as long as I win, that's all that matters.

The way he had been playing, Coburn deserved to sit just as much as any other player several times this year. Not saying he should have been out for 6 games, but 1-2 games were warranted, to me. Do you disagree?
