I'm ok with that. Regardless of how he finishes out I'd rather they just qualify him and get another free year of evaluation on him and our prospects. Would he be a UFA going into the summer of 2016? If so he would be an excellent trade chip. |

If thats Tyler Seguin, I would think it might be difficult after being traded with that ink referring to the Bruins Cup on his body in a new locker room.
Its daylight the girl appears to be of legal age, I dont see any harm or foul there.
And if being in a photo like Richards and Carter were is a precursor to a cup here, I am all for it.

The #12 questions is not fair. I think of all three of them.
Like #2, I really think it is a number that could be retired under all three of the names it would not be a slight. All three were foundation players for their generation with the Flyers.
As for Del Zotto...I don't know the off ice issues...but I do know that if he is going to play even close to the way he did the last three weeks he would be a top 3 on this team next year and maybe the year after. That would allow for him to have the odd hot and cold streaks. I would keep him... |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Del Zotto, Flyers Greatest Number 12 - bmeltzer
I agree that Del Zotto's play had dipped, but sitting him for 9 games was a bad choice. Nobody on this defense has played well enough to justify keeping MDZ out that long.
I also think, for the most part, Del Zotto's play has been good.
Best number 12 is Kerr. 4 time 50 goal guy, single season record for PPGs, a mountain of a man that was a bedrock player for some great Flyer teams.
Also, he should be in the HHOF, IMO |

The off ice stuff was a aging porn star calling him out on Twitter for asking her to hook him up with other women. |

If Del Zotto is going to continue to play at this level, that is still a bargain contract. Flyers could decide to play hardball and just make a Q offer, but that might creat ill will for future seasons. |

Sather really Richarded him around in the last negotation, and Poile just dumped him after they torpedoed his value... not sure he and his agent would be up for doing teams any favors this go around. |

You gotta go pretty far over the line to have a porn star accuse you of stalking. Let alone 4.

Have they filed charges? Stalking is a pretty serious crime, and if he's actually doing that, I imagine there'd be charges filed or pending. What I've read is, that a few porn actresses found him to be a pain in the ass and a pest, but no charges have been filed.
As long as he plays well on the ice, and he's not doing stuff off the ice that impacts that, then I'm not overly concerned. |

I understand that -- because it's true -- but at the same time, the Flyers could just qualify him and he gets nothing close to the $2.75 next season
I think he's done well in his time in Philly, and I want him to stay. But the Flyers need to start dropping the hammer on these contracts, too -- don't have to be as nasty as Slats, but at the same time, MDZ's got zero leverage for next season

Del Zotto's culpability in how recent past seasons have played out should not be ignored. Right now, Del Zotto and his agent have little leverage. They're not really in a position to turn down a deal. If he wouldn't be interested in that 2 year deal, then he's stuck in another one year deal situation, where he really can't command a big raise. |

If he's playing hardball, he's very tradeable and could bring in some good assets. |

Great article, Bill.
1) MDZ will be an RFA again and not an UFA. So, Hexy should tender him a qualifying offer.
2) Because I was raised on Dorny's era of the Flyers, I associate 12 with him (and voted accordingly). However, it's a tough choice because all 3 players poured their hearts into that #12 sweater.
3) "Jay's upcoming 50th Anniversary of the Flyers history set (a reissue of the original Full Spectrum, covering 1967 to 1995-96, and a second volume covering the years since then)"
Awesome news! |

Agreed -- he's on a $1.3 million one-year now; doubling your salary for next season is gracious in a cap league when there have been questions about your fit in a few places
I see a player who has become better than I've ever seen him. But at the same time, you gotta do it more than once, especially when you're on a one-year deal where you had to the job done, because you were THISCLOSE to being out of the league at the start of the season |
